R, trying to figure out your approach here.
You are comfortable with a milk toast kind of approach to “the Good News”and appear to condemn people who are more bold.
Yet, you say that God uses different people in different ways. while appearing to condemn the different ways.
You appear to say that your Salvation is secure at the same time saying you are working towards it.
It also appears that you fail to realize that people will use different approaches for different people groups.
There are people who one can meet that are already so hungry for God’s Word you could be an instrument in that event just by sitting and having a coffee with them.
There are those that have to be hog tied and confronted with strength and boldness.
One way is not better than any other, they are just different.
You be mild that is your style.
I will be bold that is mine.

“One way is not better than any other, they are just different.

If you reread my posts, you’ll find this is my very point. I’m confortable and effective with my approach, simply because there is a ‘market’ for it. I can get parents back to church. I’ve tried the 2x4 and it wasn’t as effective - for me - in most of the situations I find myself in.

You understand me completely, though ‘milquetoast’ wouldn’t be my label for it, LOL.

It’s been my experience that guiding people through questioning in such a way that they discover truth for themselves tends to result in something that sticks. I’ve found you can seldom ‘tell’ people the truth. They have to trip over it, in such a way that the result is:

“The answer has been staring me in the face for years, decades. I’ve known this all along within me.”

Yup. And without the 2x4 crowd hammering that message in from an early age, perhaps that answer would NOT have been within them to discover in the first place.

Ego is a pain in the ass, and I’d rather they leave with, “I finally figured it out for myself” than “Thank God that guy came around and saved me.” The latter isn’t true anyway. It’s like thanking the ladder, when it was the firefighter that actually brought the thing in the first place.

And the trick is listening to the voice inside of you telling you whether to be bold and move in, or to hang back and let the guy with the right tool do the job. Sometimes an asskicker is what’s called for.
