In Monday night's Republican presidential debate out of Florida, Mitt Romney described his plan for reducing the number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S.: "self-deportation."
The former Massachusetts governor was responding to a question about his immigration position by Adam Smith, the political editor at "The Tampa Bay Times," who said he was "confused" about his stance on deportation.
"Governor Romney, there is one thing I'm confused about. You say you don't want to go and round up people and deport them, but you also say that they would have to go back to their home countries and then apply for citizenship. So, if you don't deport them, how do you send them home?" Smith asked.
Romney said "we're not going to round people up" but rather, financially struggling undocumented immigrants would choose to return to their home countries of their own volition.

A common practice among "impoverished" illegals is to buy several faked identitues for several thousand dollars each----the illegal then votes........ and profitably rides the US gravy train under several names.
One latino stole $3.2 million UI benefits using several identities. Jose Madrigal---the Washington state tapist---had some 30 identities.

Newt Gingrich’s stance on illegal aliens...
“In three years and eight months, we defeated fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and imperial Japan. Today, we can’t build a (border) fence,” Gingrich said. “I would propose cutting off all federal funds to any city that declares itself a sanctuary city.”
He said that if UPS and FedEx could keep track of millions of packages a day, the federal government should be able to track illegal immigrants in the country.
But Gingrich added: “I don’t believe we’ll ever pass a bill which requires us to hunt down every single person” who has been in this country for some time illegally.
Gingrich also said he would favor a “very sophisticated, very clean” guest worker program.
“I think we should go back to the World War Two selective service model where local citizens are certified at a local level, where they actually know the person,” he said.
“If the person is a good citizen, has genuine ties to the United States, has genuine roots, they still don’t get amnesty, they still don’t get citizenship, they still don’t get the right to vote. They do get the legal right to be a resident.”
Romney also spoke of a “transition period” during which the illegal aliens would be allowed to work prior to having the right to work revoked (supposedly inducing them to leave). So essentially, for now, he would let them work. The idea that a bunch of illegal aliens with work authorization would actually later leave the USA after having their work authorization pulled strikes me as fanciful at best. It sounds more like a lame attempt to be on both sides of the issue at the same time.
Let’s see how mitt feels when a drunk illegal runs a red light and kills one of his kids. Or an illegal yard crew worker breaks in his home and kills a family member or steals his stuff.
Personally I’m simply fed the hell up with paying for these leaches.

Sure, it’s easy to go after those people. But there are many other illegals who stay below the radar and don’t cause trouble.
All illegals “cause trouble”. They are felons, breaking federal immigration laws. They are a burden on the taxpaying citizen. They drive hourly wages down and steal jobs. They cause trouble in many many ways. Deport ALL illegal aliens.
I would agree with mitt if all illegal aliens immediately self-deported. Unfortunately, they won’t.
