If this is true, it would explain Britt's uncharacteristic showing of his bias toward Newt. I never watch BO'R, but I always watch Special Report. Britt was on tonight and, after his comments about Newt, Bret spoke up and said that what Britt had just said was HIS personal opinion as if he wanted to distance himself from Britt's statement. I knew that Britt had a son (his only child, as I recall) that had committed suicide but this is the first time that I ever heard this story or that Sandy Hume was gay. It also shows that there may have been more to the "mutiny" against Newt than meets the eye. It may have been due more to personal animosity against Newt rather than a problem with his leadership style.

The follow-on Bob Livingstone lasted a minute and a half before his affair was outed. I approached him to shake his hand when he spoke at our senate candidate's campaign kick-off in 2000: he had a peculiar startle reaction, was pale, and presented a dead-fish handshake. Washington politics changes people's lives.
