I’ve given up trying to understand the thought process.

Perry was buried here at FR because he didn’t oppose his state’s giving in-state tuition for illegals. But we all love Gingrich — and Gingrich has not once said he opposed Texas, or would do anything as president to stop Texas from giving in-state tuition for illegals.

And Here Gingrich seems to support some part of the federal dream act, which Perry opposed. Santorum is the best candidate on Illegal immigrants as expressed here at FR, but he gets trashed in this thread as if he’s some liberal RINO.

Mark Steyn gets trashed because he correctly points out all the places where Gingrich was not conservative — something everybody did here at FR until a couple of months ago, when it became “clear” that Gingrich was the best shot at stopping Mitt. Now that is a good reason to support Gingrich, but not to attack people who still point out that Gingrich isn’t Ronald Reagan, and isn’t particularly conservative on some of the issues that people claim matter.

Santorum did great tonight, and he won Iowa, but he’s “unelectable”, so we are all bad people if we say good things about Santorum and bad things about Gingrich.

I’ll support Gingrich over Romney, but Gingrich is certainly a sad result from what we had to choose from when all this started.

I don’t remember Gingrich calling people that disagreed with that position ‘heartless’ - which is EXACTLY the contempt that Perry has always had towards conservatives that disagree with him. That’s more what killed Perry, otherwise you’re right, Santorum would be in the running.

I just don’t become a big fan or supporter of very many individual politicians, but look at where they stand on the issues. Wanted Palin to enter, then hoped Cain would follow through on his surge, but...

Now I see problems with all those left, but the most important thing is to get Obama out of the WH. Am mostly an observer now and will support the eventual nominee. But, yes, there does seem to be a lot of shifting emphasis on the illegal immigration issue and the various proposals.

Charles: stop worrying about who we, the army, have as our leader. We are our leader, we just need a candidate to carry while we mow down Zero.

Remember November 2010: Grassroots slaughter of rats and rinos. We’re going to do it again and it frankly doesn’t matter which candidate rides us.

Don’t you see? This is what the Founders envisioned and provided for us.

Our ability to tsunami out the dreck AS A PEOPLE. Stop thinking externally, think wolfpack for now.

You’re right as rain on the immigration issue. There was never a thread of difference between Perry’s approach and anyone elses. In fact, I smirk when Santorum gets so high and mighty on the question. No matter what is said, the doing is something else if you are a capitalist and believe in free enterprise. The tuition thing was all income to Texas with no debt, and with all the promise of making tax payers instead of tax evaders out of kids now with degrees, who had paid there own way. How bad is that? It’s reason and logic and conservative fiscal commitment which spells PROFIT.
