Before passing judgement on these appointments, I’d like to know about their political backgrounds and beliefs.

I frankly don’t care whether these people are horny white men or bulemic Asians, if they’re adherants to the Constitution and will judge fairly without legislating from the bench.

Instead, I’m reading immediate kneejerk responses to the media description of race, gender, sexual habits instead of judicial qualifications.

Excuse me but if they were qualified no one would be looking at their ethnicity or sexuality as PART of their qualifications. However these points are mentioned as qualifiers so they ARE an issue.

For what it’s worth Bruce A. Harris, the black gay Mayor, is a Republican.

Leaving the Asian aside for the moment, just consider how this is being presented. Consider what Christie SAID:

“Bruce will join a historic group of justices across the country as the 7th openly gay State Supreme Court Justice if he is confirmed,” said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

What he is saying, loud and clear, is that he is appointing him because he is the seventh openly gay state Supreme Court Justice in the country. In other words, he SAYS that he appointed him because he is gay and black. He’s making a politically correct point.

I think that we can assume that when it comes to family issues, gay marriage, or sex ed in our public schools, this new judge will favor the gay activist position. Christie himself says that that’s why he appointed him.

Thank you for the sane response. I have seen nothing to indicate one way or the other whether they are qualified or not. If they are qualified, I don’t give a damn about any of this.

You should know, however, that the average FR thread has, over the past year or two, become a contest to see who can be more reactionary.
