"New Jersey Governor Christie Picks Gay Black Man, Asian For Top Court"
CBS Philly.com ^ | January 23, 2012

"TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie moved to diversify the state’s all-white Supreme Court on Monday by proposing two firsts: the nominations of an openly gay black man and a Korean-born law enforcer to fill two vacancies.

Christie announced the nominations at a Statehouse news conference attended by both nominees and their families. If confirmed, Bruce A. Harris would become New Jersey’s first openly gay justice, and Phillip H. Kwon would become its first Asian representative and the first person born outside the United States to be sworn in."

Excuse me but if they were qualified no one would be looking at their ethnicity or sexuality as PART of their qualifications. However these points are mentioned as qualifiers so they ARE an issue.

For what it’s worth Bruce A. Harris, the black gay Mayor, is a Republican.

What, Christie couldn’t find a qualified gay, black, Asian immigrant to nominate? By wasting two picks instead of combining the four features in a single nominee, he wasn’t able to nominate to the second seat a Native American, Mennonite midget born at sea. How long must New Jersey wait for a state supreme court that looks like America?

Once again, Chris Christie demonstrates for doubters EXACTLY WHAT HE IS.

Black man or Asian - no problem.

Openly gay guy - UNFORGIVABLE.

REMEMBER - tell those folks down in Florida exactly WHO this Clown is pimping for in the Primary - Mitt Romney.

And if Mitt is elected, THIS IS THE GUY WHO WILL BE THE AG!!!!!

in case anyone thinks that Christie simply appointed the best available legal minds to the Court who, coincidentally, were from racial minorities and/or homosexual, think again. Christie hailed the appointments as “historic” in terms of “diversity”. He engaged in an affirmative action exercise of the type that is an affront to liberty and conservatism.

“I am proud to be standing here today to announce two historic nominations to the New Jersey State Supreme Court,” Christie said, expressing “extreme confidence in their records and respect for their intellect.” (from the article posted above)

Whats wrong with post #15? And a half dozen others prior to #29?

Besides, just looking at Christies action logically and how its been promoted, how likely do you think it is that these two were the best qualified?

IMO the same as a snowballs chance in hell. His decision was based exclusively on political considerations.

that is not a sane reaction.

look at what happened in california where a homosexual judge imposed his personal fetish on a court ruling. Judges do not leave their personal opinions at the door. Will this judge’s office be a “union” shop which favors homosexuals? Such behavior is demonstrable.

Chistie has torched his bridges with his stand for Romney and some of his other issues. He is an elitist who is bifucating conservatism in to balkan categories.

Conservative is conservative. Not fiscal, social, or defense etc. conservative.

If Christie picked these men BECAUSE of sexual orientation and ethnicity, then he’s a bigoted heterophobe and there’s no other way to describe it.

Why not just pick the best person?

You're living in a time long long ago.

So the fact that race or sexuality gets mentioned means they're unqualified?

Pretty sure there's a fallacy somewhere in there.

>> Quote: “I’m a fiscal conservative and a social libertarian.”

Like Hell he is. Let’s hear his position on drugs, prostitution, polygamy, suicide, abortion, and euthanasia. Did he support the assassination of al-Awlaki and his son?

These are affirmative action appointments. That is NOT conservative. It IS political pandering.

If he was a social libertarian his announcement would have made no mention of the “diversity” or “historic” nature of the appointments. He would simply have stated that he appointed two eminently qualified judges. And if the media had pointed out their race and homosexuality, Christie would then have lambasted them for inserting these irrelevant factors. These appointments are all above political correctness, not libertarianism.

Stupid fat slob. I was so glad he didn’t run because I’ll tell you one thing, had FR endorsed that pig I would have has to take a hiatus. No way in hell could I have kept my mouth shut about what I think of him and I’m glad he just proved I was right all along. I trust no damn yankee politicians, end of story.

Seriously, how many women have you ever seen with an Adam’s apple like Coulters? Look at her so called “boyfriends”. I suspect she is far more likely to have girlfriends in the closet and “boyfriends” to make it look like she’s not a flaming lesbian.
