With all due respect to our honorable founder and creator of the most popular and visible forum for conservative views:
If as it says on the Home Page “Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We’re working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.”, then perhaps it would be in keeping with that vision statement that we allow other interpretations of the conservative beliefs and values.
To which end I have noticed an almost intolerance to any views that do not have Newt Gingrich as the sole exemplar of conservatism.
Like we are to overlook Gingrich’s past comments about Global Warming, “right-wing extremist health care views”, limited but expandable amnesty for illegals, TARP bailouts, etc.
We certainly don’t want FreeRepublic to be a sounding board for RINOs or Moderates or Democrats or liberals, but there are valid positions that true conservatives may take that don’t trust an ephemeral Newt Gingrich as their best leader.
I think that you have Gingrich confused with Romney as those are all Romney’s views.
Don’t be a useful idiot regurgitating leftist/establishment talking points. Newt is 100% opposed to global warming government bailouts, etc. You’d do much better ignoring the media (even Faux News now that it’s totally in the tank for RINO/statist Romney) and do some personal research.
I did. And like what I found.
After Cain departed and the others were dragging tail, I decided to promote Newt. I truly do like what he did with Reagan and then as speaker and so I studied his plan. Lo and behold I loved it!
Cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the spending, cut the regulations, cut the deficit, bring the budget under control, fire the EPA, fire and jail Bernanke, audit and rein in the Fed, fire the czars, dismantle the Marxist government, repeal ObamaCare, repeal Dodd-Frank, repeal Sarbanes-Oxley, send 185 federal socialized welfare programs back to the states to be controlled locally or shuttered, implement a 15% flat tax, and a 12.5% corporate tax, eliminate the capital gains tax, privatize social security and medicare, phase them out and eliminate the payroll tax, shutter the Education dept and return it to the states and even encourage it to be returned by the states to local control. And he’s the only one I know of willing to take on and challenge the dictatorial activist judiciary.
He wants to restore the constitutional balance of powers and restore states rights and individual rights. I believe he really does understand that our unalienable rights come from God and he wants to fight with all he has for religious freedom, economic freedom, states rights, individual rights, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
If you’re a tea party type like me, what’s not to like?
All that to say, I believe wholeheartedly in Newt’s determination to restore our constitutional freedoms and I have pledged to back him to the hilt! And I have put a stop to people trashing our last best conservative hope on FR!
This is rebellion. Newt is a leader with rebellion in his blood. He has the backing of the tea party rebels and the base. Even the women and the independents. We tea partiers are clamoring to take on the establishment and here’s a lion of a leader with the knowledge, experience, determination, balls and the ability to get it done.
Warts? Yes he has warts. who doesn’t? Comparatively speaking, Romney has leprosy.
