President Barack Obama says the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to recognize the fundamental constitutional right to abortion and to continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.
The 1974 U.S. Supreme Court nationalized abortion law, prohibiting states from deciding on the matter. In his written statement, Obama acknowledged that abortion has been a divisive political issue.
Obama, while serving in the Illinois State Legislature and as president of the United States, has taken a hard line on abortion rights.
In his statement on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade ruling, Obama said it reflects the broader principles of America.
As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a womans health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters, Obama said. I remain committed to protecting a womans right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.
While this is a sensitive and often divisive issue -- no matter what our views, we must stay united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant woman and mothers, reduce the need for abortion, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption, Obama said.
And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.
As a state lawmaker in Illinois, he voted four times against legislation to protect the life of a baby that survived a botched abortion. He voted against such legislation at the state level in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
The 2003 bill was assigned to the Illinois Senate Health and Human Services Committee, which Obama chaired at the time. It mirrored a law passed by Congress, which said nothing in federal law should be construed to undermine the Roe v. Wade ruling.
As president, Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, which would appropriate federal money toward insurance plans that pay for abortions.
On Friday, the Obama administration finalized regulations that order Americans unless they work directly at a church to purchase government-approved health insurance plans that cover sterilizations and contraceptives, including those that cause abortions.
Planned Parenthood also marked the anniversary of the Supreme Court's abortion ruling by setting up a Web site "to show the world exactly what Roe has meant in the past and still means today."
The "Since Roe" Web site invites women to add their own comments about "how Roe v. Wade has made a difference in your life."
Our Daughters to Have Same Chance As Sons
...to be ABORTED?
And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.
Because it is every boy’s dream to kill a baby while he is still in his mother’s womb.
Great. Daughters can be murders and sons can join the “knock’em up and dump’em” crowd. Isn’t this what has gotten the inner city Black neighborhoods into the hell holes they are now.
FUBO!
I dare say that after you’ve killed an innocent so you can pursue your selfish ends, everything you do afterwards will never amount to very much.
This is a vile as it can get. It is right up there with o0dumbo saying he would not want his daughters PUNISHED with a live human being.
He said this for his followers, he doesn’t care what the rest of us think
It has no truth, so he'll pass it on...
Not much different than: “I’m killing all of you Conservatives so I have the same chances as Stalin, Mao and Hitler.”
Obama is going to be known for his eternal fireside chats.
His daughters have the right and the power to choose between living respectably or in the slutty manner that produces unwanted pregnancies.
Unfortunately, our decadent society ignores that basic moral and physical reality.
He makes me sick.
Obama : “our young people need sex. Our young men can get sex whenever they want, with whomever they want. There are places of business completely devoted to our young men having sex, Man’s Country in Chicago comes to mind... Mmmm. Mmmm, mmmm.... Anyway, our young women do not have the same opportunities. If a young woman wishes to get her groove on, a pregnancy with a tall, dark, and foreign stranger could ruin her life! My own mother had her life ruined this way, with me, so this is very personal to me. Every woman should have the chance to kill someone as unwanted as I am, before I do any damage...”
This is, of course, a perfect articulation of the equality heresy which is poisoning our civilization.
Our daughters do not have and should not have the “same opportunities as our sons”, since they are daughters and not sons.
Someone who believed this literally would have to believe that the inability of our sons to become pregnant and bear children is a monstrous injustice, which should be rectified by medical research and legislation to burden pregnant females.
Doesn’t anyone learn to think anymore?
Fed money for killing babies. And peple have the audacity to think Bamacare won’t do the same to the elderly? Or anyone else for that matter? We are literally talking about the Fed government paying for murder here and the same administration that wants to kiss the arses of psycho Islamo-Nazis by giving them Consitutional rights. Innocent kids must be murdered but Khalid Sheik Mohammed must be protected under the Constitution.
Nice try 0, but that just won’t wash.
Based upon what we do know of Barack Hussein Soetero Shamalamadingdong Obama’s parents, he would have been high-risk for abortion.
Makes you wonder if the self-loathing underlying his narcissism has something to do with his pro-abortion stance.
