I thought congress critters had their own special line to go through? After all they can’t be held up by us little people.
I believe there is some real truth to your post. They do not have to go through the full body scanners. And they get to b-line to the front. Just like the flight crew. Sort of sucks when you’re next a slew of them come marching up.
DHS issues special ID for politicians, diplomats, and cops for varying privileges when going through airports or checkpoints. They still may have to be scanned, but as soon as they flash their ID, no patdowns. Obviously TSA had some "special" instructions, or Paul should have shown his ID.
As usual, something smells, and it's probably TSA.
