Laura Dekker arrived at a dock in St Maarten on January 21, apparently making her the youngest person ever to sail alone around the globe.
Dozens of people jumped and cheered as Dekker waved, wept and then walked across the dock accompanied by her mother, father, sister and grandparents, who had greeted her at sea earlier.
The 16-year-old arrived in St Maarten, in the Caribbean, after struggling against high seas and heavy winds on a final, 41-day leg from Cape Town, South Africa.

I’m sure we’d be learning lessons, had she been caught by those Somalina pirates.
She stayed the heck away from that area - went around the Cape of Good Hope instead (very dangerous sailing, which is why the Suez Canal was built in the first place, but safer than getting anywhere near Somalia).
Was she fined by the EPA for polluting the water with a boat and made to pay wind credits for disturbing the natural flow of air which causes global warming and will destroy the planet?
This was no voyage of the Kontiki. She lost my vote when I discovered this on her webpage: Sea Shepherd. Can't wait to hear her report on how Glowbul warming affected her sailing.
" The Sea Shepherd people are very happy that I want to commit myself for their organization, and in this way, I can also regive a little bit to all those oceans that I will sail upon during my journey."
Almost learned something else from the other teenage girl who was demasted and set adrift last year.
Trying to be the youngest to sail around the world is a quest of many young taanage girls - and their parents.

Don't use GPS or charts? Doubt it.
...Sea Shepherd...what a pity.
A brave, capable, attractive, fit young lass who has been propagandized by the forces of evil.
Not that I favor whaling; but the same Sea Shepherd people who oppose it are committed to abortion on demand and (probably) to U.N. Agenda 21 (reduce earth’s population dramatically).
