no problem, there is a freeper called yank in the UK I think his name is and he and I have had some good conversations over private messages about England .
He an American moving over there to Sunderland and I from there Salford Manchester.
He will tell you the very same thing I have said and he was very surprised how Britain is.
He had not expected to find the country as it is.
I am sad to say I see no improvement for the future.
I'm not really that surprised that most of the people you know in Manchester want Maggie dead. The (former) industrial heartlands of the North are not exactly Thatcher's biggest fans for understandable reasons. Taken as a whole, most people in the UK understood that she did what had to be done to undo all the Labour damage that had been done since 1945 and which the wet conservatives had failed to properly address when they were in power. This is why Thatcher was elected thrice in a row...
I like her and she did well except for the poll tax and immigration.
I do find it ironic that they still call themselves the conservative party because they are not conservative.
\Maggie closed the coal mines , sold off Brit rail, the bus services and hopefully Newt will sell off AMTRAK, no more TSA etc.
The fake ATM "tribute" has been vandalized and it seems that what few friends and family this loser had in life who can type at all have converged on the Comments area of The Sun and are defending him. Fortunately there are many more who are pushing back against them and standing up for decent, law-abdiding people, so that's a good sign.
Before any FReepers spend a lot of time composing a thoughtful comment for The Sun's site, please be advised that the comment I submitted there yesterday has been taken down by The Sun's tireless censors. My comment used no foul language or rudeness whatsoever, in fact it was very much like the final two paragraphs below the asterisk line of post #1 in this Free Republic thread.
I believe that my unforgivable sin, in the eyes of The Sun's censors, was to simply ask the question of whether empowering the decent, law-abiding people of Great Britain to be able to defend themselves in a similar manner as we can here in the USA might have made a difference in this matter. That was apparently a completely forbidden area for me to venture into and it was taken down. We can't be corrupting the minds of commoners with ideas of proper self-defense now, can we? We must always trust The State to do all of that for us.
Be thankful for Free Republic, where polite people still have an opportunity to openly discuss what's on their minds. Many online "news" sites which claim to welcome public comments are not nearly so free as it is here.
If you choose to read what I post, you’ll notice I’m from the West Midlands. I lived in inner city Birmingham for the first 30 years of my life. My business is in east London and I commute daily.
I’ve also lived in France, Germany and the Czech republic all of which hopefully stops me coming across as a typical blinkered, rose-tinted ex-pat, rather like you do.
yes and you’d say this to my face too ARF
BTW I was in the army not too long ago and came home and saw what I saw and thought what was the point of my mates dying, seeing legs blown off, for what.
That is the view or most of us BTW not just me.
for some snotty nosed officer worker who lives in a bubble, oh jolly good Simon or the dole dossers and scrotes hanging about doing nothing
so don’t come to me with your crap and saying it is me blinkered,
Oh BTW While in the army I lived in many countries , too many to mention

Two things you need to do so you don’t look so ignorant in front of our American friends:
1) Stop assuming you speak for the entire UK.
2) Stop assuming you know anything about me.
I’m surprised you claim to have served her majesty as the first thing the army does is to train you never to assume anything. FYI this office worker living in a bubble spent the whole of Op Granby (Gulf War I to those across the pond) in a Challenger MBT as an Lt in the 14th/20th King’s Hussars A squadron under Maj James Hewitt. Our unit made what was widely attributed as the first armoured kill of the action taking out an Iraqi APC along with our attached Life Guards unit, followed by many, many more.
So yes, I would say this to your face, though I really haven’t got the energy to try to wade through any more of your badly written and puntuated attempts at English, so I’ll bid you good day soldier.
