CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. Rick Santorum kicked off his Florida campaign here Sunday by aiming directly at Newt Gingrich. Its great to be glib, but its better to be principled, the former Pennsylvania senator told a crowd of more than 200 standing in a hot parking lot of a strip mall in this town outside Fort Lauderdale.
Santorum dismissed the idea that the South Carolina primary reshaped the race into a Gingrich-Mitt Romney face-off. Saturdays results could very quickly be overshadowed by the Jan. 31 Florida primary, in which hes hoping to reemerge as a factor. You have three candidates who can be president. That wasnt the case moving into South Carolina, he added, referencing Jon Huntsman and Rick Perrys withdrawal from the race. Florida can now step back and say, Okay
who is the candidate that we here in South Florida should put our seal of approval on?

I get that Newt is the man and all but it cracks me up watching people say crap like ‘Newt is great and had accomplishments’.Just be quiet as it is impossible to put compound W on the warts when everyone knows they are there.
He does have a tin ear, which is the focus of my American Thinker piece tomorrow (if editor runs it).
BTW, just thinking out loud here: American Men in sweaters, who comes to mind?
Jimmy Carter
Mr. Rogers
Rick Santorum
OUCH
LOL and what happened to Keyes; neither he nor Buchanan would be so extremist with isolationism nowadays.
please don’t even ‘go there.’
“Santorum doesn’t wear well with time.”
Yeah, that’s what the PA voters thought too!
I beg to differ....no other candidate is not only contrasting himself against the enemy - Obummer, he’s also effective at comparing himself to the 3 has-been pseudo-conservatives running against him.
I’ve not updated my profile in many years, but I am 31. I’ve been following politics since I was 14. I’ve gone back and examined Newt’s record and double-checked my recollections. This man broke spending caps. The budget was balanced, largely because the economy exploded as a result of the dotcom boom, Newt did not trim spending:

There was a Conservative revolt in 1997 and he was tossed out on his air because Republicans were angry at him for spending too much money. He’s a great talk show guest, a great revolutionary, but a lousy leader.
To be fair an animated fat penquin picture would be here but I can't find one.
Iowa is done. Rick S will go down in flames if he continues to focus his BASHING on Newt over Liberal Romney.
Rick, it's obvious you are no Conservative when you focus you hatred on the most Conservative candidate, while giving Liberal Romney a pass in Florida.
Talk about EGO. Name one other state Santorum can win? Santourm is so rude and such a turn off. Newt was born in Pennsylvania and more than likely will win PA.
Go NEWT ! Lots of Red States still to come.

You know, aside from an obvious lack of humor, you really aren’t helping your case by putting up a picture of someone in a sweater vest who turned out not to be nearly as squeaky clean as his self righteous attitude made him seem.
Come to think of it, that’s perfect for the little phony faux conservative RS.
Cheer when a fellow conservative is out of the race, and show your true colors....then only weak RINOs remain. Santorum has been eqauating Romney and Newt as one in the same while attacking Paul’s stances as an Obummer ageneda. Sorry if you have a problem with it, it’s true. Newt will be busy sipping tea with Mittens while you have yet to wipe the foaming-at-the-mouth, rabid lapdog drool from your chin...
Newt Says Romney a Possible VP Pick
I think the consensus is that hed certainly be on the list, whether hed want to or not, Gingrich said. Hes a very competent person. This is a very serious man. I would certainly support him if he became the Republican nominee.

Isn’t Santorum a lawyer?
I knew you would try to get me on that technicality about Jim.Big deal Jim’s ethics charges were about the same as Newts. No one is perfect.I think you are really pushing it calling Santorum a FAKE conservative when he is no more fake than the rest of them. His warts are way smaller and you know it.
They'll need something to keep them warm after they've elected Obama for another term.
Just tweaking the irony.
And yes, Santorum’s warts are smaller. So is everything else about him. His mind. HIs talents. HIs experience. His accomplishments. The problem with measuring candidates by “wart size” is that you always come out on the side of the younger candidate. You have to do pros and cons or you are being intellectually dishonest.
And take away the social issues, and RS is no conservative at all.
Bull chit...you’re actually dense enough to think the elites give two hoots about the moral issues Santorum supports...they’re more likely to go with populists like Gingrinch, Romney and RuPaul over Santorum. 100% guaranteed. Live it, love it, learn it.
Read Senator Tom Coburn’s Book, “Breach of Trust” He attested to the abuse of power and overspending that marked Gingrich’s career in the House. Do a Google search and read articles from the 1990s on why Gingrich was removed as speaker.
Exactly. Why are they so overly drunk on the Newt cool aid that they claim Santorum is in the tank for Romney when one of Gingrich’s first VP hints was Romney? The same vile hate I saw on here for Bachmann and Perry shines through when Santorum and Gingrich are buddies...go figure...
