Well, whatever. A far simpler explanation is that over his 5 years of campaigning Mitt has become less and less interesting to more and more people..

He has a rather "flat", maybe even sociopathic personality. There's a "coldness" about him.

Sure, that's a step up from the President's narcissism but it's not enough to edge past Newt's ability to speak out.

Mitt? I don't think he is sociopathic. He is shallow as hell, and plastic, and probably more narcissistic than most, but that's all just conventional establishment politics.

I recall in 2008 saying he was probably the best qualified candidate but I just never felt comfortable with him. I still don't, I don't like narcissists and I don't want to have to vote for him, but he apparently is law abiding and reasonably decent. Sharp business practices, maybe, but no personality disorder.
