You do know that McQueary did not explain the details of what he "saw"? He "heard" things. You do know McQueary has told multiple stories? Should Paterno destroy a person based on McQueary's statement or should he turn it over to authorities? I would have done the same.
He was a great football coach, not a police detective. Should he have known how to conduct a police investigation? PSU police have jurisdiction. Paterno turned it over to the AD and the man in charge of PSU police. He could have told McQueary to say nothing; that would have been a cover-up.

You really would have acted as Paterno acted in the face of that sort of information?
Wow. I'm shocked that you would admit that.

He helped evil to thrive by being indifferent. Meh. I will studiously avoid all those who will talk about his greatness today. Coverups to protect an institution were not ok for the Catholic church but get to the men's institution of all holiness and a man who was simply good at his job, and suddenly he did everything right.
I would add to the above "deliberately indifferent". And indifferent to keep Penn State out of the news, more than likely.
Meh. Here's hoping the media can finally shut up about him before tomorrow.
