The Paulistinians are not leftists.
They are about 10% of the party, about 25% of the under-30 party.
A man who can co-opt them will be a big winner.
No, the Paulbots are not leftists as such. But a lot of leftists crossed over and voted for him in Iowa and New Hampshire. Then presumably they intend to vote for Obama in the general election.
Heck, a couple of young liberals here in Vermont told me that they had signed a petition for Rick Perry a few weeks ago. It’s not that they support him, but they wanted to muddy the water. Now, Perry’s out, of course.
Having followed around the young Paulistas for a while now as I tried to understand their corner of kookville, I have learned a lot.
The Paulistas are first and foremost, amoral and imposing social leftists (social Marxists) and American-American haters. They are libertarians not conservatives. They are more comfortable with the far left’s doctrines and amoral ideals than they are with conservatives even while they claim to be for the constitution. Paul and his leaders all came out against the Tea Party. Not so with OWS. They harbor young, radical anti-Christian activists. Many are the social missionaries of Rand to the point of being intolerant and hate filled.
Many of the young Paulistas move easily from OWS to Paul rallies because they don’t really understand what is going on beyond what the Left, including propaganda from Iran and Russia (that they pass around like gems of “truth”), have told them about culture, history, economics and Booooosh. They moved from Paul to Obama (a Marxist) in the last presidental election.
They are in for a good old fashion leftist mugging before they wise up to the fact that they have been manipulated and fooled and most everything including that Jihad is real and is not their pet puppy dog. It’s so much a reflection of the youth in the 60’s, it’s spooky.
