Thousands have flocked to watch a fake presidential rally held by comedian Steve Colbert and one-time Republican presidential frontrunner Herman Cain in Charleston, South Carolina. And in an interesting twist, the crowd, comprised mostly of students, was far larger audience than any at an actual rally during this year's election cycle in the state.
Herman Cain, whose presidential campaign was plagued - and finished - by a string of accusations of sexual misconduct, appeared alongside

And he got a lot of help when he zeroed in on Gov. Perry.
But he’s a true, decent conservative...I read that a lot here.
He is still on the ballot in S.C. and in florida. I can think of no reason he shouldn’t try for a few votes. Thank Heaven he is still in good shape after the rotten things this administration did to him. I wish him all the luck in the sorld.
What a fine mess they got us into.
I was just waiting to see his celebrated business career vetted.
Oh yes, Herman converted them. Sure he did.
From the LA Times article which covered the event:
A number of students, like Dominique Awis, 24, said that although they were Obama supporters, they planned on voting for Cain in the GOP primary Saturday to show what a political farce this super PAC thing is.
BTW, I do think Herman is a very intelligent, and capable person.
I just don’t think he used his talents in a way that behooved himself.
I really can’t stand Colbert. His entire schtick is to mock conservatives by pretending to be one himself. The fact that he isn’t funny in the slightest just makes him that much more annoying.

He wants an electified fence with a sign on it that says “this will kill you” and build it with a moat around it with aligatrs in it.
Funny no one really talking about a fence anymore - it was just a gimmick to trash Perry.
Brilliant! /s
Hahahahaha! That was a good commercial!
:-P
Rick Perry was never in the running anyway, CW, but I sympathize with you because you worked so hard for him. I suffered the same thing with both Duncan Hunter and Herman Cain. Herman Cain they had to do in ASAP because he was the one they definitely didn’t want to face. Poor Perry, did it to himself. So who are you going to vote for this time? I guess Gingrich is the strongest of the four remaining candidates. The good Lord be with us all.

Yep. When I first heard this story I was torn between thinking we do need something to lighten up the nasty tone that Sen Rick and Gov liberal flip-flop have brought to the table, and being upset that Cain has yet to endorse Newt. And mylife is so right about how some FReepers would have jumped on it if it were Perry doing this -- but there are still some who jumped on Cain (just read the posts -- mental issues? c'mon, now)
Fact is, no Conservatives want Romney. This gives the young demonrats something to do besides support Mittens or RonPaul if they want to "spoil" the results...and it may give us an opportunity to gauge the numbers of dim-wits who are crossing over in other states, too. I am only sorry he waited until the election instead of starting a few days ago.
Conservatives who are serious about winning will still vote for the Speaker (or should we call him Dr. Gingrich?). Conservatives who don't beleive in "forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against us" will still vote for Santorum, and now the leftists among us will have a third choice: Willard or Ron or Steve/Herman.
But, I would like to see Herman tell his former supporters to vote for Newt.
Can anyone on this board explain to me how Perry had the greatest response of all his debates, coming in only second to Newt in the first SC debate, and Perry’s numbers waned?
It truly is a fickle public, and I do harbor some ill will toward Cain for playing up the race card on Perry, and blaming Perry for his women troubles.
what a silly man..sorry so many were snookered by the slick talk
this and “we the people”
carrying on playing while the future of our way of life is in the balance
go back to your nature Mr Cain, you’re better suited for it
We aint voting for Herman Cain and his Charlatan SC sideshow!
If Perry had done this I’d be so shamed I’d self-ban myself.
But Cain’s supporters masquerading as Santorum people who are really Mittbots get zotted with such prejudice, it was almost worth the pain they inflicted on Perry people.
Let me be clear.
The reason I am beating Cain up is because he has no qualms with using the race card to unfairly diminish a good candidate and all he gives a **** about is himself.
When this asshat ripped Perry over the fence with his stupid BS, some of us called him on it, and he just said “i was joking” He walked away with no damage to himself while making an unfair attack on a good candidate.
In the end he adopted Perrys stance on the border and nobody in the media said “WTF”
Screw Herman Cain. HE knows how to play that his race places him above scrutiny.
Shame on him.
