Rick Santorum walked a fine line in his response to questions about Marianne Gingrichs accusations against her ex-husband and Santorums GOP rival, Newt.
Personal matters are personal matters, but they are matters that are particularly when you are in public life as he was at the time and the people involved were also in a sense in public life those issues are issues that people will look at, Santorum responded.
I believe in forgiveness, Im called to believe in forgiveness, he continued. I do believe having some accountability to a higher calling other than self is a very, very important aspect and perspective that is important for leaders.
To make the final comment, these are issues of character and these are issues that people will consider based upon the time, when, where, how all those thing will factor in and Ill let people make that decision, Im certainly not going to make it for them, he said to a crowd of about 150 people.
I suppose it might be an issue in the general. Just not a pivotal one. Conservatives tend to be more judgmental in fidelity issues. Considering the percentage of divorces out there, I find it hard to believe there would be a high negative effect.
I’m not limiting God or anyone else. I’m just sayin’. :-D
I should have pinged you to post 21, you need to read it.
My poor husband cant believe his GOP is doing this - turning their backs on Mitt Romney in favor of a known anti conservative zealot. It is unbelievable. If Huckabee were half a man, which apparently he is not, hed drop out. He looks heinously evil for staying in for the express purpose of hurting Mitt Romney. Creepy beyond belief. Even John Edwards has more character.
Anyway, go, Mitt!

Wow — good work! That was fast! Thanks for confirming that my memory of Saundra Duffy was accurate!
That’s some nasty shiite to be dragging into my den.
Lets just cut to the chase.
Folks on FR are supporting Newt because they perceive him to be the most conservative of the candidates. And they seem to be willing to ignore any of the serious issues that Newt will have getting elected.
If another more conservative candidate was in this race, Newt would be savaged her for his serial adultery and attack on capitalism (etc).
I thought those of us on FR had principals first, and were also conservatives. After 12 years here, I am having doubts.
Personally, I will support whoever wins the republican nomination. We can’t have 4 more years of Obama. Any republican is 100 times better than Obama.
First off- thanks for responding.
Now- I did not have sex with THAT woman...
Newt is either scum or repentant/forgiven... and by whom is Newt or ANYONE else to be forgiven? Newt’s conscience is what is in question; correct?
I am not willing to go down with the ship AGAIN under the guise of religious purity!!!
I traveled to Wash. D.C., in 2001, and 2005, in support of G.W. Bush and all that he stood for; which amounted to a lot of party nonsense. sheesh!
(I await your response, should one be forthcoming.)
” conservative Toomey. “
Yeah, the same Toomey who supported the repeal of the ban in the military of bestiality and sodomy ?
***
Didn’t know that. Ugh. Thank you.
They’re politicians. God help them, and me.
I don’t know what that symbol means, what is it?
What a stupid question, IF another person would have similar issues as Newt Gingrich and repented, but had even BETTER abilities as Newt Gingrich we would be voting for him! sheesh..
What part of forgiveness do you not understand?
OH!
Well, we’ll see. :-D
Listening to the post-debate on CNN last night, particularly Borger and Brazile’s comments, clearly the Dems are hoping to gain from Newt’s “infidelities.” IMO, they’re going to be seriously disappointed. These people worked overtime during the Lewinsky scandal to desensitize us to these affairs — “it’s just sex,” “what people do in their private lives is none of our business” — and they are bound to be dismayed when their attempt to capitalize on Newt’s affairs is met with one collective “Who cares?” from the American people. Sad commentary on our society, but poetic justice all the same.
Keep the faith and say what you mean!

“Thanks for the question, but here is what we need to talk about tonight. Iran is building nuclear weapons, Iran is threatening our aircraft carriers. Iran is threatening to ignite the Middle East in war.
But here in North America, our close friends the Canadians want to sell us their oil. But you know what; Barack Obama does not want the United States to have that Canadian oil because he just vetoed the Keytstone Pipeline. Friends; it's urgent that we get Bararck Obama out of office, our nation's future depends on it. etc. etc etc...”
I remember what happened to Newt as speaker like it was yesterday.
Newt was driven out by the leftwing media, Democrats and then finally, feckless spineless RINOs simply because he had the nerve to try and lead a fically conservative revolution and an impeachment of a lying president.
Your above comment is way off.
LMAO! Is that post for real? Talk about burned!
OK- So why didn’t future leader/president Santorum, elicit such commentary?
PS Santorum was my man, before Bachman was my woman, and before Cain was my main, main man!
