How will the details revealed by Marianne Gingrich regarding her former husbands personal life and Newt Gingrichs defiant response play out among the GOP presidential primary electorate?
But its worth keeping in mind that even before Marianne Gingrich went public, Newt Gingrich was already facing tough odds when it comes to his support among women nationally a factor that underscores the argument made by his GOP rivals against his electability in the fall.
There typically tends to be a gender gap in presidential general elections, as women vote more Democratic than men.
But a CNN/Time/Opinion Research survey conducted Jan. 11-12 showed that among national adults, Gingrich faces the biggest gender gap of all the GOP contenders.
If the general election had been held in mid-January before news of the Marianne Gingrich interviews had broken -- the CNN survey shows President Obama would have taken 54 percent to Gingrichs 41 percent. Among only men, that gap narrows to a six-percentage point difference: 49 percent for Obama and 43 percent to Gingrich.
But among women, it widens to 18 points: 58 percent for Obama and 40 percent for Gingrich.

Don’t quit your day job.
Now that women know 0bama is a useless twit effecting their future and their children’s future, they will vote for the fixing the economy and nor upon a hormonal reaction...
Vote Newt 2012 to save America!
Considering the divorce rate in America, and the number of voters who have an angry ex of their own, this hit job on Newt won’t do much, if any, damage. It may even get him some sympathy votes.
This is such nonsense. Let the democrats go after the women, the blacks, the hispanics, the Jews, the elderly, the redheads, the turtle-neck wearers, the Sprite drinkers and any other disparate group they can think of.
We are conservatives. We run on ideas. “Anyone who joins us in all sincerity we welcome. Those who do not favor our cause, we don’t expect to enter our ranks in any case.”
Newt will have to face this battle, but it will be an easy battle as he will simply explain that all the accusations about Open Marriage and divorcing a wife while she was ill are all a big bunch of lies.
If Obama picks Hillary as his VP, it’s really going to be bad, especially if Gingrich is the GOP nominee. Which is why he should pick Susanna Martinez.
Neil on Fox just riped Newt for responding to Jon blowhard CNN shill for the way Newt responded to the question. Jon and CNN are for liberal Romney and this effort at the beginning of the debate was to throw Newt off his debate. It was pure rotten politics and filthy. Neil is an ass.
The women in my family are voting for Newt. My wife was for Newt before I was. She didn’t budge onE inch yesterday in her support. If anything she supports him even more after putting the beat down on John King.
Yes, lets quote some MSM polls taken before Monday’s debate. You know, the debate that will win him SC? You know, the debate that apparently changed everything in Rasmussen’s national polls?
In other words, polls before this week no longer mean anything.
I am a married white woman and I will support Newt.
The way this article is written one might think unmarried white woman are idiots.
WaPo-Obama is now beating the “Sink Newt At All Costs” drum to save Willard’s coronation.
Of course conservative women will vote for Newt. What about independent women? I have my doubts.
Wow, not allegations or claims, but the "details".
As far as the female vote, when does the media mention that Gingrich would be our second Catholic President, that is bound to have some positive effect on the Catholic vote.
If unmarried white women cannot see the damage Obama is doing the the country, both in the foreign and domestic sphere, and will vote based solely on the issue, we are doomed anyway.
If that’s the case, just enjoy the bread and circus performances while Obama fiddles.
