To deport:
My post had nothing to do with your claim against me that I presented Rick Perry as a “glorified person across the political spectrum”.
My post was focused on a single thing and that’s what I addressed.
I don’t know what got into you...posting that to me. Your opinion of Rick Perry as a political personality is irrelevant to my post.
To nodems:
You came on a postive Perry/Newt thread and made a claim that was totally unsupported by facts.
You used two events: a Texas poll, and Rick Perry’s decision to stand down in SC before the vote and to endorse Newt Gingrich, and you stirred trouble by claiming that one event CAUSED the other event.
You also hypocritically claimed to congratulate Perry for making the correct decision. Only a fool would fall for the line as a sincere one, while at the same instant you were stirring trouble with a completely unsupportable claim about Perry dropping out for a different reason than he gave. And for a different reason than was staring everyone in the face.
Again, the latest polling, before Newt has made his own surge back against Romney, was showing a clear Romney surge in polls nationwide and across the South. Those of us who noticed that found it scary. There is no way we can save this country if Southern Republicans vote for Romney.
Therefore, the poll you cite of Romney leading, was not a Texas phenomenon. It was nationwide and including the South. He was even leading Newt.
Therefore it is seen in a much different light than merely a reflection on Rick Perry in Texas.
These are all FACTS.
To the extent people in Texas were unhappy with Rick Perry it was clear they wished he would stop running for President and return to being Governor, period. Can’t say I blame them, given what Perry experienced in his campaign. He has a 60% approval as Texas Governor.
(That’s not “glorified”, deport, that’s just a fact.)
Meanwhile, in SC, polls showed Perry would finish very low there. With Santorum still in the race, and Newt regaining some of his footing...enough to make it close with Romney and perhaps win, and with Romney pouring everything he can pour into FL...hoping to take both SC even if by a squeaker and to run away with FL, it was crystal clear that Perry needed to do something right then and there in SC, to help Newt, to hurt Romney, and to look forward to the Fall Campaign.
If there had been NO TEXAS POLL, Rick Perry would have made the exact same decision. There was no other reasonable decision for him to make.
Therefore your point FAILS.
I hope you effort to stir trouble FAILS, too.
My post had nothing to do with your claim against me that I presented Rick Perry as a glorified person across the political spectrum.
My bad, I thought you had him walking on water. But if you didn’t, I agree 100%.
People STILL trashing Perry are afraid of his intentions which Newt is going to give him reign with.
Perry knows he doesn’t have to be POTUS or VP to bring States’ Rights to the rest or demolish job-killing activist fed departments. He just needs his good friend Newt to hand him the keys!
The people who think Perry is politically finished and post vanity threads about it haven’t done any of theirr homework. Poor excuse for FReepers.
This is all a moot point. Perry is out!!! Thank God and Greyhound, he’s gone.
