Newt’s biggest sin marked with scarlet letter ‘R’
Boston Herald ^ | 1/20/12 | Howie Carr

Posted on 01/20/2012 12:08:18 AM PST by raccoonradio

Say what you will about Mitt Romney, but here are two words you’ll never hear him utter: “Open marriage.”

I raise this only because I’ve noticed something lately about another of the Republican candidates, namely Newt Gingrich. Women don’t like him. I mean, they really detest him.

This problem predates last night’s “Nightline” interview with his second wife, Marianne, who proved once again that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Good luck avoiding those ABC sound bites today, now that they’re all in the public domain.

Whether or not either of his first two wives was on her sickbed when he first broached the D-word to her, that’s the story that’s out there. You’ve heard of the Second Wives Club. Callista is president of the Third Wives Club.

No wonder yesterday in Walterboro, S.C., Newt surrounded himself with hostages, most notably his grandchildren. Message: How can I be a horndog if I have grandkids, not to mention a brother who’s a cop who supports the Second Amendment?

Last week Newt was a “historian.” Now he’s a good ol’ boy.

So what if Newt was livin’ here, lovin’ there, lyin’ in between. He’s not the first pol of whom it has been asked, “If fingerprints showed up on skin, wonder whose we’d find on you.” Yet he gets cut no slack, which in a way is puzzling. We don’t know his whole cheatin’ heart, but it seems that he marries every woman he cheats with. Shouldn’t that count for something?

Note how the lamestream media is pummeling Newt, as opposed to the way they treated the now-indicted John Edwards in 2008. Edwards had a knocked-up New Age gal pal who had picked him up in a singles bar in Manhattan. He was using campaign cash to keep her and the unborn love child on the lam, shuttling them from one posh resort hotel suite to another, while Edwards’ loyal aide lied that he was the father of the future Frances. And don’t forget the XXX amateur videotapes.

Surely a much more serious breach of marital fidelity than Newt’s serial adultery? Plus, a federal crime if you believe the U.S. attorney in Raleigh. The Edwards scandal was on the front page of the National Enquirer every week. But the moonbat media was unanimous in its verdict. ... Nothing to see here, move along.

Did I mention that John Edwards is a Democrat?

Being a Republican, Newt obviously knew there would be no Bill Clinton-Jesse Jackson free pass for him. Perhaps that’s why he converted to Catholicism — a fresh start. Bless me father for I have sinned ...

Will Newt win tomorrow? I know at least two women rooting against him — hard.

No doubt. Not saying its right, but the media let us know that sex between consenting adults had no bearing on an individual performing their job.

How many news talking heads discussed John Edwards boffing somebody other than his wife while she had terminal breast cancer? None of the major news outlets talked ‘bout it until they were dragged kicking and screaming by National Enquirorer.

Where’s John Edwards now and why is he there?

Juanita Broaddrick couldn’t get anyone to listen to her for weeks while the MSM tried make the Clinton rape story go away

Mark Levin is asking Brian Ross to run down Obama’s many drug dealers so we can find out what drugs Obama took, how much and how long he was a doper

Howie Carr has been for Romney from the beginning. He’s out of Boston WRKO.

Romney would be the only candidate up there who would not have to utter the words “open marriage”. When you’re a Mormon there’s no need for it. You can just marry the both of them.

He's not a closet Romney supporter. He let's it be known everyday on his radio show that Romney is his man.

No, he has people to do that for him.

I actually read this article as a positive for Gingrich. Carr is essentially saying that Gingrich is only guilty of being a philanderer while Republican. Clinton made it de rigeur to be an adulterer, and the public and media did little more than snicker at the events that transpired.

Meanwhile Newt, who does not hide the fact that he’s a serial philanderer, is getting pummeled by the media for essentially the same thing that both Clinton AND Edwards have done with little fanfare.

Seems to me that the media is desperate to discredit most of the Republican field, but the only real scandalous stuff they can dig up on Newt is based around sex while Romney has some serious financial questions to answer.

Newt doesn’t strike me as sanctimonious. He’s out there, warts and all, and he’s not preaching his faith or otherwise trying to make people think what he’s done is socially or religiously acceptable.

We need to get past all of this BS and look at the content of these candidate’s platforms. Newt will destroy Obama on every front, and the MSM will continue the “But he had affairs while he was married!” whining tripe. As long as Gingrich continues to call them out on their BS, like he did last night, the voting public will take note and say, “Damn, this guy’s not afraid to call a spade a spade.” That’s what we need in the WH right now.

Newt's second wife probably just won him South Carolina and as the last three decades have demonstrated, the GOP nomination.

Last night may have sealed the deal.

Talk about an historic positive backlash—America has grown to despise and distrust the MSM so much their help is a hindrance and their scorn a badge of honor.

I was a Santorum man but now I am undecided about who to vote for Saturday other than NOT for Mitt nor the Nut.

Odd how Republicans are always forced out of the race by the media over things the media once told us was private matter.

Your point about John Edwards is well taken.

The point I keep trying to make about Newt Gingrich is...he’s a conservative and that’s why there is interest in his personal life.

The truth about Newt is not to be found in the MSM.

His first wife was the high school teacher who molested him when he was a minor, just a student in high school. She became pregnant and so he married her. She was the one who asked for a divorce, and later she was operated on for a benign tumor. Do you see how the media has twisted this story?

He and Marianne Ginther were having an affair during the last years of his first marriage. It was evidently a stormy relationship because they were legally separated twice, the second time for six years. Newt eventually asked for a divorce.

The only reason the MSM is making an issue of any of this is in an attempt to alienate the social conservatives from Newt Gingrich.

This man was carrying a troubled emotional burden while serving in Congress but he sought counseling, joined AA and eventually turned his life around after a religious conversion. This last you never hear from the media - never!
