The Intrade investors are (unlike Newt supporters such as myself) unsentimental, and for the first time in the run-up to the South Carolina primary, their collective assessment has Newt as the favorite, with a 57.5% chance of winning. Even earlier today, after all the favorable morning & afternoon polls came out, Newt was only at about 42%.
What made the difference? A couple candidates:
1) Yet another PPP poll came out about 1/2 hour ago, including polling done this very night, showing Gingrich maintaining his 6 point lead.
2) Santorum's attack Chiwawa routine at the CNN debate tonight drew some blood re Romney, but mostly damaged Santorum himself, and will, IMHO, accelerate the South Carolina voter exodus from Santorum to Gingrich.

the doggone Paulistas are sure active, aren’t they?
Coulter needs to run back to her boyfriend Mahr to figure out who she should support. She’s a RINO trailer trash bimbo.
Santorum has a weak chin. And he has a weasel look about him. Like a worried look. I don’t like him all.
druggies for Paul? blogging on high SPEED
He sounded whiny when he was 1 of 8 or so and I could sympathize with that. But he’s still the same Santorum after it’s down to 4 and after it turned out that he really did win Iowa.
Santorum is the ONLY candidate who will not put off the female voters (a crucial demographic that shows Newt losing in spades) and his blue-collar appeal will peel of blue states into the Republican column. He wins PA and with Rubio as his VP, FL falls into the red column and its all over for Obama. This is about winning the general and is much more than derailing Romney. While Newt dishes out red meat, he is undisciplined and unelectable and un-telegenic and Obama will scald him over his prior support of mandatory health insurance purchase.
I spelled it phonetically for your sake, because bitching is your substitute for life.
I like chiwawa, clever.

Actually, Santorum reminds me of a high school kid running for student council. I am the only candidate who has never been sent to the principals office, I am the only 4.2 in the class and I promise to have a candy vending machine in the cafeteria.
Meh. I’m female, and Newts marriage baggage doesn’t scare me away. It takes two - and I’ve read up about both of his failed marriages, it’s not as scandalous as it is made out by the MSM.
His divorces will only cause the socially conservative to turn away. Some of them. There are a lot of voters to whom this is not a deal breaker.
We do not have a perfect candidate.
Looks like the sleaze attack of ABC and CNN is backfiring on THEM. ahahah
Gingrich may win SC. A month ago, he was projected to win it by a large margin. Now it looks like an Iowa nailbiter. The polls will not have time to reflect the ex wife story from today. So it will be hard to tell until late Saturday nite.
If Newt wins SC, it keeps him in the race a while longer. But I don’t believe he can win the nomination. He doesn’t have the campaign organization. And he isn’t even on the ballot in VA, and several other states due to missteps. And he has too many skeletons to win in November. I’d love for a Newt presidency. But all those polls you have faith in, also show him loosing by 20 points to Obama in the National election.
It’s sad, but I think Alexrod is smiling tonite.
Mitt isn't worth, rhymes with it.
And Rick is too darn nice.
Paul is the crazy old Uncle Ross Perot had locked up in the cellar.
I am supporting Newt against Obama. Done. Finished. Game over.

I was thinking the exact same thing when he concluded: Vote for me. How did he get elected to become Senator, I don’t know.
you say: “Santorum has a weak chin. And he has a weasel look about him. Like a worried look. I dont like him all.”
After what they just did to Newt, he’s probably afraid he’s next -
“His divorces will only cause the socially conservative to turn away. Some of them. There are a lot of voters to whom this is not a deal breaker.”
Yes but Romney isn’t counting on social conservatives.
Hmm I’m getting that same “demoralize” non-romney voters vibe off you that I get from the MSM and Fox.
Diverse???? Six people, one sorta somewhat but not too much conservative in Ari Fleischer, the other 5 total liberals.... "Diverse," my axxelrods.
