One thing that was in it that needs to be retained (I would rather see it retained through separate legislation) Is permitting health insurance sales across state lines... Another is disallowing insurance companies from dropping coverage if you become ill.
Both of these changes are needed and are in obamacare.
Obamacare does not permit insurance sales across state lines. The GOP legislators, to their credit, tried to get this included, but the Dems wouldn't even allow a vote on it. In any event, allowing the sale across state lines represents an example of getting the federal government the hell out of the way, which is exactly what Rick Santorum proposes. The only thing preventing interstate sales from occurring right now is federal law. We don't need a new law. We need to trash existing law.
