In all fairness. I think Santorum had a pretty good night in the debate. But it wasn't stellar. His SOPA answer was poor. Also, he still has a problem with angry man petulance. Will it move the needle for him. I doubt it. The reality of his current status is the biggest drag for him. Newt is now seen as the only conservative that stop Romney in the state. The PPP poll reinforce that. The key statement:
Santorum has the voters most likely to abandon him for one of the more viable contenders in the final 36 hours, with 32% of them saying they could end up voting for someone else. Gingrich is the second choice of 45% of Santorum voters open to changing their minds, compared to 22% for Romney.
In terms of highlight reels - Newt's opening in the debate will get - by far - the most play. This will help him. Overall, Newt had a good night, but no real breakout moment. Romney's poor performance will help. Santorum landed a lot of good punches on Romney tonight, but it's just as likely that Newt will benefit from them vs. Santorum. Romney's performance - as I just mentioned - was pretty poor and it may cost a few more points in the polls/final results.

Santorum can’t pull off “assertive”. He just comes across as a ahiny jerk when he tries. Newt, OTOH, can tear you limb from limb, making you smile and nod the whole time he does it.

I like Santorum, but I don’t think he has the stones to take it to 0bama and the media. Rick is a nice guy. But it’s nice guy GOP candidates that get steamrolled by the MSM and the Democrat-Alinsky machine. I just don’t see Rick standing tough in the wake of the nastiness to come from both sides.

Newt, I think, is the right man at the right time. He is a flawed man and filled with imperfections, both personally and politically. But we need a guy who is going to get in the gutter with 0bama and the MSM and take it to them. Newt has shown he is the only guy willing to do it.

If we play nice with MSM and 0bama once again, a second Marxist term is inevitable.

I believe God put 0bama in power to wake this country up from the Godless course we have been on for a long time. He put 0bama there to drive us to the edge of the cliff. This election will decide if God lets him drive us over the cliff, or if we elect the guy to turn us around from it.

Santorum is a good Christian man. Newt is a sinner who says he was repented and found a new faith in God. But Newt also understands politics is nasty and dirty and he has a clear perspective of what is coming his way should he be the nominee. He is ready for the fight and I think he can win. Santorum, I get the feeling, thinks he can win with his strong values alone. He will get steamrolled if he thinks that.
