He’s portrayed as a small government conservative but his solutions all seem to include government/taxpayer dollars. He says he will abolish the EPA but wants to replace it with an Environmental Solutions Agency which will “incentivze” energy and things like flex fuel vehicles. If they need incentives to survive, they’re free market failures.

He says he will defund planned Parenthood and give the money to adoption services. I don’t want to fund planned parenthood but I don’t want to be forced to fund adoption either What’s next? Are we going to defund the department of education and give the money to private schools?

To me, small government means leaving more money in the private sector, not taxpayer funding of things I like.

He can’t beat Obama so 4 more years of Obama. Pompous v. pompous means current pompous keeps his job. Pick a winner. Instead, using the McCain formula is a losing one. Ya’ll are wrong imo. No more pompous has beens for me.

I wonder if this is just a pork barrel thing to try to let the folks who support epa only because they are making money from it (meaning, no ideologues or foreign-money-supported obstructors) hope to keep eating at the trough, and thus shut up about the idea.

You are thinking too big ....we’ll be lucky to boot Obama no matter who runs against him. Newt is the man but it will be tough for him. He is 68...can he handle a tough campaign?

#1 is beating Bammy Boy. I’ll worry about the details later after a Republican wins

I 2nd that.

I get extremely annoyed with people who try and tell me I should like a guy who is going to do things in gov't that are intended to help me personally. We'll never get out of this mess until Americans start to realize that the best thing that gov't can do for us is to leave us to our own resources, let us keep what we earn, let us suffer when we fail, and let us prosper when we succeed. We need a gov't that promotes the general welfare of the nation, not the general welfare of individuals.
