We need to fight back. I'm tired of scummy liberals demanding that our people are pure as the driven snow. Let them devise ONE standard for both parties... and for themselves.

The "press" is so ready to exploit Newt's ex... to help spread her bitterness. Why?

Can we reciprocate? There are newsmen who have been unfaithful.

Maybe some of US don't want to see - or READ the news - when it's written by people who were unfaithful to their marriage partners. Let's parade them out and make our call. Turn about's fair play, right?

Anyone know some bitter ex-wives of newsmen? Let's have some fun with them... Are you ready ABC? CBS? Are all your editors and reporters 'pure'?

I’ll believe this when I see it. Looks to me like Newty’s trolls are trying to create the “Newt is inevitable” scenario—ala Romney.

How a Tea Party Conservative can support a serial philanderer, lier and deceiver is beyond me.

Many famous men have been serial philanderers and still did good things. Ben Franklin even seems to have a reputation for a profligate sex life. We have a choice between someone who stands for nothing (flip-flop Mitt) and someone who certainly has his flaws, but also can clearly enunciate our views against socialism, has the intellectual firepower to compete with Obama & perhaps the will to roll back the unconstitutional federal government we now have.

You might say, “What about Santorum?”

I’ll say, he’s got less of a chance than Newt!

"Nevertheless, there is still a substantial Tea Party opposition to Newt, as well."

In the fairly small town where I live I went to a couple of organized gatherings supposedly sponsored by the tea party. It didn't take me long to realize that mostly libertarians had claimed that group.

Interesting. As a nominal libertarian myself, I don't really have too many big problems with Newt. Maybe his support for NAFTA/GATT. Hopefully Newt would be amenable to eliminating the "Progressive" Income Tax, which as many of us are aware is a central plank of communism.

I predict that the bulk of libertarian and/or Ron Paul supporters will be able to vote for Newt ultimately, which is why I believe it is important that they do not become alienated.

My primary problem with Ron Paul is his utterly naive concept of US foreign/military policy, and while I believe a case can be made that there has been excess hawkishness in US military policy in recent decades, Congressman Paul's views are just too dovish to grab the electorate on the issue of National Defense and Strength.

Additionally, Cong. Paul has not offered much in the way of an alternate vision of US National Defense, such as the need for, say, missile defense, which is a perfectly legitimate concept that should appeal to conservatives, libertarians, and liberals alike.

But I digress. What I'm saying is that I am hereby throwing my support behind Newt, and in the absence of some horrible, recent misdeed, I think he will absolutely destroy 0bama in the general election, should he win the GOP nomination.

FWIW, I’m Libertarian as well and quite like Newt.

Not fond of Paul’s foreign policy, and I’m a bit skeptical about his ability to get things done since he’s been up there for 30+ years and hasn’t lead any successful initiatives yet AFAIK. Though to his credit, Paul has really elevated the dialogue about liberty and the imperative of sound money and what not.

Interestingly, Newt has been mentioning that returning to a gold standard would be a good idea: http://money.cnn.com/2012/01/18/news/economy/gingrich_gold_standard/index.htm
