For all the talk from some that SOPA was "dead," it appears it's alive and well and getting ready for its big re-entrance. Lamar Smith has just sent out a press release saying that he intends to resume the markup in February...

10-15 years ago he was a good guy. We voted for him a few times. What’s happened to him?!
Bad legislation seems to have all the characteristics of a particularly virulent form of foot fungus.
26 years in DC. That’s what happened.
He caught Washingtonitis. This is why we need term limits.
Thanks for this post. Interesting.
Welcome to Free Republic.
GMTA ;-)
same with the large cuts to military, it was cloaked in a budget charade.
If not Feb, they will use Easter break or attach it to something else.
How much money is Lame Smith receiving from the RIAA and MPAA? We need to investigate those who are out front supporting this bad law and defeat it.
What I don’t understand is the stupidity of Republicans spending their political capital to advance Hollywood’s agenda. That’s like having our soldiers give blood to provide transfusions to wounded al-Qaeda militiamen.
Fearless leader Boehner sure has been quiet on this one. Is he holding out for more lobbyist payola?
It’s about time he looses his chairmanship. Perhaps he and Boehner can both retire.
RIAA and MPAA money. NBCUniversal also supports SOPA/PIPA, so expect the drool-a-thon to continue from *those* idiots.
I'm watching the conversation at Twitter now, and Julian Sanchez is awesome. Mike Masnick is doing his best to help stop this, and now Google will be contributing something on it's US page. More blackout notices to come.
Anybody hear from Jim Rob on this?
FULS!!
JimRob, any special action by FR tomorrow?
PS: Scott Brown (MA) announced he’s voting NO on SOPA (well...for now).
Nailed it!
I live in this nitwit’s district and there is NO business or industry here affected by this. He has no legitimate reason to even be involved in this issue. This is simply, “give me enough money and I’ll gladly drop my pants and bend over.”
Between crap like this and the presidential primary fiasco, I despair that the Republican party has completely lost its mind. The thought of four more years of zero makes me want to puke!
Hope the voters, especially his campaign contributors, make him pay for it politically next election. Take him down before he gets the chance to “retire.”
I’m still working on getting an answer from the two boneheads that serve in the senate screwing over Michigan, Levin and Stabenow. I expect a breathtakingly pathetic and weasel-worthy response.
Bought by Hollywood money, and apparently staying bought.
