Oh please, men have been abusing women and children forever, except when other men take responsibility and put a stop to it. The best way to prevent unwed mothers is for men to keep their dicks under control.

It has nothing to do with predators singling out “single” mothers. They prey on women and children because like wolves preying on pregnant cows and calves, it is EASIER.

Doesn’t matter what century or society you live in.

Oh please ...

Reality doesn't exist to please. Men do not abuse women or children, that is to say that MEN ARE MEN, and not to be labeled in that mean way by the few who speak meanly using the uncommon example of the few men who do so abuse to smear all men.

But "single mothers" are prey -- that is a defining, intrinsic characteristic of being a single, never married, mom. It is a reason why in "single motherhood" is outlawed in sane cultures. Sane cultures discourage social behaviors that are likely to provoke crime, and to encourage behaviors that reduce the chance producing crime. The statistics of crime bear out the danger of being a single mother [1]. And it gets worse too.

"Single mothers" raise children who are far more likely to be criminals, to be anti-social. The 1995 Cato report [2] says "Nearly 70 percent of juveniles in state reform institutions come from fatherless homes, as do 43 percent of prison inmates"

That rate of bad behavior by the children raised by single women has gotten worse. Why? We infer that from another social trend noted by the Cato Report: "Research indicates a direct correlation between crime rates and the number of single-parent families in a neighborhood." Since 1995 the both the percentage of "single mothers" and the concentration of them in neighborhoods has significantly increased.

That is why I opened my comments on this thread with a comment soon thereafter pulled by some moderator saying that it was, perhaps, a benefit to the surviving child to be raised by two-parents, presuming that the maternal grandmother and step-grandfather would raise the child.

The real victim is that child, but in the loss of the child's mother, there is also a chance at a better life. A real chance. Reality is very harsh on the children raised by "single mothers".

Ann Coulter has done a great job in putting the hard-to-handle pieces of the puzzle together, Hard to accept because our modern culture is so wrapped up in the crazy emotions of putting "victims" on a pedestal. And of all victims none so foolishly adored than the poor, struggling "single mother". Ann writes her 2009 book "Guilty"[3]:

All the figures are grim. According to the Index of Leading Cultural Indicators, children from single-parent families account for 63 percent of all youth suicides, 70 percent of all teenage pregnancies, 71 percent of all adolescent chemical/substance abuse, 80 percent of all prison inmates, and 90 percent of all homeless and runaway children.
"Single mothers" are easy prey. But they bring into the world their own victims. Their children. It is that child of the now dead young lady who is the real victim.

But can that young lady be blamed? She grew up in the time since Murphy Brown was hugely celebrated as a pathbreaking single mother heroine!

The famous single-mother Murphy Brown TV show story arc aired during the 1991-1992 season. On May 19, 1992, Vice President Dan Quayle gave a speech where he criticized the Murphy Brown character for "ignoring the importance of fathers by birthing a child alone". One year and two weeks later, on June 2nd, 1993, Vinessa Lazano was born.

Does that bother you at all? Does the way the cultural elites shoved the dangers of "single motherhood" down a upon the unwary, upon the innocent, upon the generation yet to be born?
