Rush Limbaugh broadcasts on Clear Channel. Clear Channel is owned by Mitt Romney
Examiner ^ | January 12, 2012 | Angel Clark

Did you know that many of the talk radio hosts that you listen to on a regular basis use the same company to broadcast their shows? Clear Channel boasts names like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and even Coast to Coast AM!

Michael Savage is TRN, but is on a lot of Clear Channel stations.

Clear Channel is the largest owner of radio stations in the United State [...]

Did you know that Clear Channel is owned (in large part) by Bain Capital?

On Friday, November 17, 2006, Clear Channel announced that it was going private and selling off almost one-third of its radio assets... The buyers, led by Bain Capital Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners, agreed to pay $26.7 billion for the company.

Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney. Mitt is retired now, but he still profits from Bain Capital according to the New York Times.

Clear Channel Communications is a privately owned company controlled by the private equity companies Bain Capital Partners LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP. Clear Channel was sold for $18.7 billion in cash plus the assumption of $8 billion in debt. The transaction closed on July 24, 2008. The operating company which technically owns Clear Channel is called CC Media Holdings, Inc.

Think about that the next time you're flipping channels on the radio and realize that Rush Limbaugh calls the candidates "Romney", "Non-Romney", and "Loony"...

Why do these other candidates get called "Non-Romney"?

Do you think you'll be hearing about this story in most of the media sources you frequent?

Then it's up to you to get the word out. (Especially since by sharing tips like this I help cement that I won't ever become one of those big names in talk radio)

I wish that was the way this issue was taken on.

The problem as I see it and we have 3 imperfect conservatives splitting the vote against 1 well-funded moderate. If we could get 2 of those conservatives to get out, we’d actually have a chance to beat Romney in the primaries.

The stuff about Bain, Clear Channel, and Rush is ridiculous. The Newt PAC commercials are offensive and full lies and half-truths. I am not a Romney supporter at all, those commericals come on, I turn off the radio.

But Free Republic is as much an Internet icon as Limbaugh is a radio one both being historic pioneers of conservative thought in their respective mediums.

Well, we all love FR just as we love the "art" our children make for the fridge. And while it's not a Rembrandt or a Monet, it's of more value to us than the "Masters."

But from a capitalist perspective...Rush is worth Fifty Million Dollars a year. FR begs for $100,000 per quarter...though it's "worth" more than that of course, but the difference is staggering.

FR is great for bickering over current events, but William F Buckley and Edmund Burke and Russell Kirk and such are "historic pioneers of conservative thought" which neither Rush nor any website can hold a candle to.

Lots of shows have been “playing the Romney Bashing ad from http://www.winningourfuture.com/";.

Exactly my point! So why would anyone think that a network would force talk show hosts to "tow [sic] the line" for Romney and at the same time play horrible anti-Romney ads? Unless you really think there's a vast right-wing conspiracy like Hillary.....

It’s a political cartoon...a lampoon...satire....not political doctrine....lighten up.

Indeed, the thought that some investment company is telling Rush what he can and cannot say is certainly a joke.

Romney has been invited to document what is “incorrect”. Wanna bet he won’t?

The elites want Romney. It would make no difference how it was couched. The talking points would be the same.

The maker of the film was on FOX News Sunday yesterday and was confronted with at least one blatant inaccuracy regarding a paid interview that was taken completely out of context.

I don’t disagree with you on the elites wanting Romney. However, the way it was couched turned a lot of non elite supporters against Perry and Newt, at least temporarily. I would have liked to see it couched totally differently or another line of attack altogether.

The useful idiots on this site have now made it impossible to question Slick Willard and his dealings by labeling any questions an attack on capitalism. The dude is a liberal and as dirty as they come. Oh and he'll release his tax records the day John F'n Kerry produces his military records.

Some conservatives can still be played by the left and the press.

Fox has steadily been going left.

Lookup the film maker, Jason Killian Meath, and learn something.

Heads-up for folks who may not remember or who may be relative newcomers: back in 2008, Zevonismymuse was a full-blown Romney pusher, a proud member of the ranks that incessantly called FReepers who quite reasonably and rationally rejected Romney for his statist, pro-abortion, pro-nationalized-health care, pro-global warming, pro-homosexual politics, "haters" and religious "bigots."

Just FYI.

One and the same that told Jim Robinson that Romney was the most conservative candidate and that Jim Robinson just hated Mormons. I dunno why she's still here spouting her Romney bull shit do you?

Zevonismymuse to Jim Robinson

J.R. - I will absolutely not support or vote for Mitt Romney and, in fact, will actively campaign against him.

Zevonismymuse - You mean you will continue to actively campaign against him. You don’t hate RINOs; you hate Mormons.

Zevonismymuse to Jim Robinson

Zevonismymuse - Romney is the most conservative candidate in the race. He will win the nomination and go on to win the General Election.

So you think that raking in millions and letting government pick up the tab is true capitalism.

Where did I say that? I only objected to the *way* Newt and Santorum attacked Romney, not to them attacking him per se. I would have much rather they'd attacked RomneyCare, gun control, or on his business being in bed with big government, if it was.

The *way* it was done gives the Dems ammo against whichever Republican becomes the nominee. They'd make the attacks anyway, but now they can use excerpts from those ads.

No, but no one mentioned subsidies to this point. I'm against local governments attempting to bring in business by giving them subsidies. Tax breaks is a different issue. I don't have much objection to them as long as they are temporary, and must be paid after the fact if the company leaves the area with a given time, somewhat longer than the tax break time. Infrastructure is also a different issue.
