Did you know that many of the talk radio hosts that you listen to on a regular basis use the same company to broadcast their shows? Clear Channel boasts names like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and even Coast to Coast AM!
Michael Savage is TRN, but is on a lot of Clear Channel stations.
Clear Channel is the largest owner of radio stations in the United State [...]
Did you know that Clear Channel is owned (in large part) by Bain Capital?
On Friday, November 17, 2006, Clear Channel announced that it was going private and selling off almost one-third of its radio assets... The buyers, led by Bain Capital Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners, agreed to pay $26.7 billion for the company.
Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney. Mitt is retired now, but he still profits from Bain Capital according to the New York Times.
Clear Channel Communications is a privately owned company controlled by the private equity companies Bain Capital Partners LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP. Clear Channel was sold for $18.7 billion in cash plus the assumption of $8 billion in debt. The transaction closed on July 24, 2008. The operating company which technically owns Clear Channel is called CC Media Holdings, Inc.
Think about that the next time you're flipping channels on the radio and realize that Rush Limbaugh calls the candidates "Romney", "Non-Romney", and "Loony"...
Why do these other candidates get called "Non-Romney"?
Do you think you'll be hearing about this story in most of the media sources you frequent?
Then it's up to you to get the word out. (Especially since by sharing tips like this I help cement that I won't ever become one of those big names in talk radio)

Did WHAT with a candlestick for I haven’t a Clue.
Uh.... you are on the wrong website. It is a FACT that freerepublic.com is ANTI-Romney and that will never change.
Just as we are Anti-Zero, Pelosi, Reid, et al. Romney is a Liberal Hack.
The sooner you accept the FACT that freerepublic.com will continue to bash Romney along with Zero 24/7, the sooner you will choose to avoid this forum.
WE do not support ROMNEY, and never will. sucks to be a Romney supporter on freerepublic.com. Find your own website and stay off this Conservative website which will continue to BAN Romney-supporters. Just like we ban Zero-supporters. Just accept it.
I've been here since 1998 and pay monthly for the privilege of posting on Free Republic.
Maybe after you have made your bones you can lecture the rest of us about who belongs on this forum. Until then, the owner can run the place just fine. Here's a suggestion, why not "show" us you aren't just a thread disruptor - which I suspect you are - and go cough up a few bucks to support this forum?
Put your money where your big mouth is.
Guess the mods like you or have yet to notice you.
Either way—IBTZ.
Who do you support for the 2012 Republican Nominee?
I support Newt GIngrich. Who do you support?
Rush is hard on Willard - relatively - until someone attacks him and then he’s all over them. When the attack dies down, he goes back to his mild badmouthing of Willard. Listen and chart it... it’s what he is doing. The republicans he hangs with all want Romney, rush doesn’t have the strength to go against the people who populate his vapid lifestyle. And I think a great deal of his program - it has taught me alot. It’s just seems to be how it is.
You just made MY case. Rush's show is a 100% direct response to the very notion of media you just mentioned. As Mark Levin would say, "ya dope!"
What you don't have a clue about is who owns Rushs show. HE does. This is like the third different syndication partner he's had, and if this one went away he could have four more lined up before lunchtime. It is totally different than if he were a "paid employee." He is not. FTR I am in the media business on several levels and have been on and off for almost 30 years. I also have informal ties to the show in question. Talk radio is not anything like traditional media. It is a response to it.
In addition...
If you support Romney in any way, shape or form... you are on the wrong website.
That is a fact.
Go soak your head, troll. And don’t EVER post to me again...I don’t waste my time with disruptors.
And NO host has been harder on Mitt Romney - even using the beloved FReeper name 'Mittens' one time - than Mark Levin. So a pretty inconclusive, silly article, like much on the glorified blog site posing as newspaper "Examiner.com".
Just a simple question... who are you hoping wins the Republican nomination?
Free Republic cares because Jim R put up a Straw Poll a few days ago and Newt Gingrich won handily.
Do you think Rush is in the tank for Mitt? Be honest, now. <<
Yes....Now a question for you...
Who do you think Rush is for????......Be honest, now..
I rest my case your Honor!!!!!!!!!!
Why would someone at Bain call Rush and tell him to toe the line pro-Romney, and then turn around and syndicate a commercial from Newt's anti-Romney SuperPAC.
Rush's contract is set up to guarantee that Rush can promote Rush. Rush will survive long after freeperland implodes in conspiratorial hysteria.
You are connecting dots that do not connect. Yes, Rush was overboard on Newt. I agree with you there. I am a big Newt supporter. But Rush has always been exasperated when Republicans attack each other from the left and in his opinion that is what Newt did. Again, in Rush’ opinion.
Rush also gave Newt kudo’s for Newt’s stand that Sarbanes Oxley and “mark to market accounting” of Sarbanes should have been repealed, and if it had been, TARP would not have been passed because the banks would have suddenly been ok on their balance sheets. (Newt was 100% correct about that too).
Having said that, Rush has been more negative against Romney over the past few months than almost anyone. Well, negative on Ron Paul too.
So quit whining about why Rush “can’t come out for” so and so, because for 23 years Rush has never “come out” for so and so in any primary. That’s not what he does. What he does works well for him. He’s not going to change it simply because you cannot comprehend what he is doing.
“Does it really matter?
You are being VERY silly ....”
Silly....doesn’t matter...? Ever heard of GE and NBC....? Still think its silly and doen’t matter?
Limbaugh has been in the tank for Romney in recent days.
With that said Limbaugh is the biggest money maker in radio. He can wag the dog. If he is supporting Romney for the money it would have to be a big pile
My big issue with all of this is the process. How it is that a couple of ratty little states, the MSM and a few pundits on the radio or TV can push who is the Republican candidate is beyond absurd. The whole mindset is bass ackwards. Screw all of these people. Including Limbaugh. And the RNC.
Maybe the whole system is messed up? Maybe our method of picking a president is as stupid as our method of taxation, immigration, etc.
I don’t have a solution. All I know is that we are not seeing a lot of really bright people anywhere. MSM, government, etc. I get more intelligent thought here on FR than I do from anywhere else...
I don’t think they get it that this is a privately owned site and we are all guests of Jim Robinson. When I hear this line “Mitt Derangement Syndrome, clear and simple. It is great to point out differences, raise concerns, ask questions and thoroughly vet all candidates. This is how a primary election works.” You have to wonder how stupid they think we are? We criticize Mitt for his four years as Governor and we don’t understand Massachusetts politics and can’t ask questions about his 25 years at Bain Capital because we will be against Capitalism. Mitt knows how to fight and win.
Rush clearly wanted to be for Perry months ago, and has been disappointed by him. He also clearly likes Santorum to a degree and Bachmann to a degree (before she left) and Newt to a degree. He liked Cain but never took him seriously.
He clearly despises (as a candidate) Huntsman and Paul. He clearly thinks Romney is the establishment choice and while Rush likes him better than McCain, he is nothing close to Romney supporter.
I follow Rush everday and he seems to have jumped the shark. He is not on our side. IMHO
