be careful what you wish for...stopping all sorts of male pecking order does more harm than good
bullying is really only bad to me for those who cannot defend themselves at which a well raised sport will step in to help...but God forbid...the school will have a cow

but trying to make boys act beyond their nature hurts more than it helps
I got bullied....tall for my age...older lads wanted a go...I was skinny but game
I learned to box Golden Gloves and my big Chuck Conners type dad trained me...I kicked ass. I learned.

I am 54...my pic on my homepage..old beat up but big...two open hearts from a congenital defect...but i know as well as my hair is white everywhere..lol..sadly...that I will still fight even at my age if I have to...someone cracks on my wife or is outta line with my kids then I'm going physical and just hope I can damage them enough quick or I'm done in about 30 seconds (no side jokes please)
my oldest...11 ..is a hoss and promises he will have my back when I am truly too old to do much but sell wolf tickets...bless his heart

Back in the day, most of the time, after you had a fight you and the other boy became friends.
Going back to bullies, they tend to be kids with issues who look for easy targets. It’s still that way today.
I had one kid who was two years older and thirty pounds heavier than me decide to wait for me on my route home and repeatedly throw me against a chain link fence. After about a week of this, I caught his brother who was my age and build. I told him to tell his brother and his parents, from that moment on, anything his brother did to me I would do to him. His brother left me alone, after that.
Isn't it bad enough, without boys and men making it even more difficult for each other by bullying each other?

You mean the white maleness of the first half of the last century that lynched others for the crime of dark maleness or stuffed people into the oven for not having the correct type of white maleness? If that's been lost, then good riddance.
And I know that all white men are not like this, and there are plenty of examples from other groups. The point is if boys are allowed to bully each other when they're young, where are they going to draw the line when they get older? It's not stopping it, but failing to stop it, that has resulted in the widespread disfunction of many of today's boys and young men.

I have no problem with teaching boys to defend themselves, but teaching boys not to bully each other is NOT in conflict with teaching them self defense and will NOT stop them from growing up to be real men.

Teaching boys not to bully each other is NOT muzzling men. If anything, it would go a long way towards uniting future generations of men against many of the injustices that many of today's "manly" men refuse to stand up to.
