Portions of this were printed in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review recently. The new PSU Prez has been doing damage control at alumni meet and greets in Pittsburgh, Philly and elsewhere in the state.

Penn State's leadership is corrupt, and I'm glad people are starting to realize that. I was great to hear about the standing ovation given at the Pittsburgh meeting after one of the alumni suggested that the board should step down.

“. . .doing damage control” will be difficult. Once a scandal hits the news, the next group of studemts applying for entry will not be the cream of the crop. The parents will see to that.

Many years ago when our oldest son was accepted by MIT, we persuaded him to decline and go to the next college on the list, because we considered MIT officials to be criminally negligent. They had put a brilliant student on the plane for home when he was high as a kite. He got off the plane in Spokone, Washington, went to a church with a gun, shot up the place, and was eventually shot and killed by the police.

Thus did those university officials neglect their responsibilities and destroy a young man who had received a perfect score on the SAT -— the only one ever to do so. How many other parents felt as we did and ostracized their school for years to come?
