Deja vu all over again. Isn’t this what helped sink Huck?

What is it about these evangelical governors?

They are biblical ignorant. God said to send back to Him those that commit homicide. He gave NO authority to flesh beings to pass out get out of jail second chances pardons to killers.

“What is it about these evangelical governors?”

They think they were elected God. Of course, none of them run on a platform of “Dispensing forgiveness to murderers and other unsavory characters at the end of my term”

What he doesn’t want to say, but is usually the case with these evangelical characters, is that God told him to do this.

Some of these evangelical governors think they are god with their pardon power. They seem to forget only God can forgive sin. These 4 pardoned men were cold blooded murderers. The same thing goes for vengence. The Bible teaches that God says “vengence is Mine”. Being a Christian, I definitely believe in forgiving one another but not in pardoning mortal sin against another. That kind of sin can only be pardoned by God Himself. Pardoning sin was the one thing that really bothered the Pharisees in Jesus’ day. They realized He was saying that He was God when He forgave the sins of others.

I don't buy the religion angle at all. Barbour knew this would be political suicide and that it would end his future aspirations.

I have to think that money or favors to donors or something was involved. Barbour is not the kind to end his political career for nothing.

Hell, a bunch of these pardons could be smokescreens for a handful of pardons that he's hoping get lost or overlooked in all of this.

If you have 5 people that you really want to pardon, but that wouldn't stand up to scrutiny in the public spotlight or would raise questions about possible political donors by themselves, you surround those 5 people with 200+ other people you're pardoning.
