And that Joseph Smith said our most important work is baptizing our dead? And that the Mormons are really, really good at at baptizing (and a tad too zealous about it; just ask Jews from the Holocaust)? That a lot of people who shared genealogical information with distant relatives that happened to be LDS are now surprised . . . LDS baptisms.

So what? What your original statement was, "The genealogy you posted is fascinating because of how far it goes back, but to me it's a skeleton. Those are assembled for the purpose of baptism for the dead."
