No it is not just you. There are lots of people like you that get their panties in a wad when others chortle over darvin award winners. People react to these things differently. Such is life.
You won't be so arrogant when one day it will be you (for we are all fallible and make mistakes). Then you will see what it is like when "others chortle over" and mock you.
In my youth I worked in a nursing home populated by people who pretty much had lived self-sufficient lives. For their entire lives they had been "in control". They might not have made any big mistakes like our deceased laborer.
And now, at the end, they had lost control of their bodily functions, and were soiling their beds, or worse, were unable to prevent themselves from defecating in the halls. There were lots of guffaws on the part of the staff when that happened. The poor confused individuals were mocked to their faces.
You may be self-assured now, but in your declining years it just might be you who is "getting your panties in a wad" as you find yourself on the other end of the malicious taunts that you make light of now.
