Romney is SUCH A PHONY, INSINCERE typical politician. Slick as hell, will spin on a dime, depending on the prevailing winds. Taking in droves of naive people here and there much like Obongo incredulously did four years ago — out of dispair. But the very same result, Big Government/ Liberalism, will still be in store. Some joke, eh? This is a bad movie we have seen before.
That's just plain silly. I can't stand Romney but the idea that somehow Romney fans are now bashing anyone who doesn't like him here is truly cracked. For fun I almost posted a thread "Does ANYONE here like Romney?"
I don't get the intense hatred for Romney. I am supporting Santorum (reluctantly), but there's something more going on here. I'm a pro-lifer, and the fact is nothing Romney did 'created $50 abortions" which have been part of MA care since the 70's.
There was a one-day story of Gov. Palin approving some appointment, and praising the guy, who was pro-abortion, and she was criticized by some but most said she had no choice in the matter, she had to approve on of the folks sent to her desk. That happened to be the truth, and though some (like me) said "She's supporting a pro-abortionist" the facts, when we cooled off, were there to be seen.
The facts are there about abortion and Romneycare, but I'm weary and most people here don't seem to care.
I'm sick of correcting the lies spread about Romney here because I think "Wait a minute, I can't stand the guy!" But the truth IS important. And the truth is, Romney is not a socialist anymore than Gingrich or Santorum (who are big government in FACT, not word) or any number of Republicans are.
That's because Republicans are big government types.
There is no true conservative candidate in the Republican field. So it seems the conservatives are picking their guy and making excuses for him.
Romney isn't a conservative, but a poll shows he's acceptable to conservatives. I don't think if he becomes president he will be as bad or worse than Obama. At this stage, that's all I care about.
I think there's more behind the rabid hate for Obama than some are saying, but for pete's sake, can we get over the victim pose? Claiming that conservatives on this site are attacked when Romney is criticized here doesn't pass the laugh test.
I'm sure I'll be banned now for daring not to support Romney but because my hate for him isn't intense enough, but I don't care. This place has really gone downhill, and this childish hate instead of reasoned discussion is just a huge turnoff. So if this is the end for me, so long, and ...too bad.
We are so screwed. Romney will lose against bammy. Big bright smile, but no substance.
Although, Newt didn’t have the best smiley face nor the best persona, he had and has had the right words to go up against barack-tele-propmter. He kicked everyone’s ass in the debates simply because he is smart and knows stuff. I don’t give one shit about his past social life/wives. Compare that to Clinton rape and orgasm on an intern in the Oval Office. I will never forget that.
Jim, again, we’re screwed. The GOP has decided it’s Romney’s turn like they did with McDaddycain and before with Dole. So pretend if we get the WH, Senate, and House? We had it under Bush II and what did we get? New entitlements, but some good stuff, also. Gotta give credit when due.
If we get control, what do we do to make them reduce the size of fedgov this time? Got plan? If not I have suggestions from years back. Many are probably unattainable...some may be within reach if conservatives have control:
1. Term limits; Yeah, I know...
2. Reduced Congressional sessions. Think Texas every two years legislative sessions. That’s one of the main reasons they are the most productive State in the US;
3. Executive orders eliminating/reversing administrative branch bureaucracies and regulations;
4. Elimination and/or reduction of Administrative branch power of “executive orders”; Yes again, would take a Constitutional amendment - maybe not. Worth a test with USSC.
5. Legislation to assure all laws fall within the jurisdiction of the original INTENT of the Constitution- that’s a committee or bureacracy I could support;
6. Sunset clause to all legislation other than defense and possibly a few others. We can debate which ones to include.
7. USSC justices having a limited tenure. Again, needs an Amendment to our Constitution.
I have other ideas, but they would take a person like Sarah Palin or Rand Paul to make the points to the average “Dancing With The Stars” types. Someone has to spell it out in joe-six-pack-soccormom language so they can understand how their and their CHILDREN’S liberties are being eroded every day.
Also, remind them why they have what’s left...because of some old wig-wearing guys who gave their lives and fortunes to become free men and women.
Brother, if things don’t turn around, you and I are doomed as free men. We’ve had our outs, but I know you to be a patriot (oh no, a term that DHS looks for).

Yes. Romneycare should be the focus of this campaign — not how the guy made his living before he went into politics.
Yes. We have a mediocre 4 year governor with zero conservative accomplishments, and who couldn't event run for reelection. Not exactly the track record of an election winner.
The same advisors to Mitt who designed Romneycare designed Obamacare. That’s why it’s called “Obamneycare.”
Sounds like Obama.
And Bain Capital was the recipient of a government handout.
