About 9 years ago, enemy fighters in Iraq captured then-19-year-old former Private First Class Jessica Lynch in a deadly ambush on the truck that she was driving. Eleven soldiers died in the attack, including one of Lynchs closest friends.
Later, Special Forces rescued Lynch from an Iraqi hospital and initial government reports portrayed her as a hero who went down fighting, claims which Lynch denied, saying that she didnt shoot a single round in the attack.
Today, Lynch joined Shepard Smith to talk about being in captivity, how she got the strength to call out the government on the false story presented about her, and whether, in the end, the Iraq War was worth it.
Of the attack, Lynch said she woke up about three hours after the ambush and knew immediately that something was wrong. She said, I woke up and all I could see was Iraqis standing all around me, looking down upon me. I knew at that moment something terrible had happened and I wasnt in the right place.

You want to talk like a tramp, then you get talked down to.
As an Army veteran this is about a soldier and an Army event, you are trying to turn it into some chick, personal thing, grow up.
If you respect the military and want to maintain it, then start respecting it, and do not contribute to this national embarrassment, by trying to protect the myth.
Show some respect for the real heroes of her unit who were fighting as soldiers that day, and dying.
Talk like a tramp? You have serious problems, Sir.
You want to make this something it isn’t. You’re unhappy that she didn’t get killed with the rest? Well, why don’t you just go and ask her to do the ‘honorable’ thing and hand her a weapon? Otherwise, you’re over concern with this topic and making certain Lynch is vilified is just wrong. She served her country. She’s setting the record straight, not trying to hide anything. But, I guess that’s not good enough for you. Whoever you think you are to judge.
ps. You’re making me respect the Air Force, to which my b-i-l belongs and has served, more than your Army. My best friend’s brother was Army and killed in Iraq. My father was Army. No, I don’t respect you, you haven’t earned it. Tramp? No, Sir.
I have better things to do than discuss the military with a drama queen, you can play along with the Lynch charade all you want, it is as good a fantasy as any other for the feminist types.
If so, they just treated her like one of the boys...
Now she admits she hid in her truck and never fired her weapon while those who did...died
Yet you and Renee persist with both the lie and the general myth of women in combat.....
It is a poor indulgence and she should have purposely been placed there period
Your fembot fantasies will not change that
What sort of culture purposely exposes women like that
I have witnessed first hand how women suffer in brutal third world conflicts....women caught in it as non combatants
Yet you support us placing them intentionally in the harms way of barbarians?
Are u effing kidding yourself?
do you think we or the Brits or Dutch would have intentionally left the women in the path of the Japs had they had a choice
Views like your’s are nuts....there is a reason beyond male oppression that no one did this for 1000s of years
We used to call it common sense
Yep and some are still here....clinging

Yet just a few months ago Lara Logan was indeed gang raped for in public and many here either denied it or claimed she had It coming
I was called soft for believing those nasty bastards did rape Logan yet she got no sympathy here.
And the fembots squashed her true rape since fear of Islamaphobia trumped women in military this go around I guess a mythic rape trumps a real one...depends on the victim?
Jessica Lynch Story on ABC now with Diane Sawyer
ABC TV | 11 NOV 03 > Jessica Lynch: “Only I would have been able to know that, because the other four people on my vehicle aren’t here to tell the story. So I would have been the only one able to say, yeah, I went down shooting. But I didn’t.”
___________________ Spin behind Jessica Lynch story?
World Net Daily ^ | 5/6/03 | Diana Lynne
Military advocate Elaine Donnelly sees another political agenda behind the Post’s misinformation. “I think someone in the Army probably a woman leaked the story to the Washington Post to spin it,” she told WorldNetDaily. “If you plant the story first, it’s almost impossible to turn.” Donnelly, who heads the Center for Military Readiness, is a longtime opponent of allowing women to serve in combat positions. Donnelly suspects “Pentagon feminists,” whom she says have actively pursued the advancement of women in the military beyond the dictates of common sense and at the cost of military effectiveness, are behind the unsubstantiated report of Lynch’s valor and erroneous report of her injuries.”
I didn’t think the Bush administration would try and spin the story the way they did...I believe the young lady said it was militant feminists in the Pentagon who spun the lies. I doubt the White House got anymore than we did.
Get a clue. The Bush Administration’s flunkies spun this story, the Post cluelessly went along and the truth came out. Dubya got egg on his face. Deal with it.
Did anyone actually even see the live show with Smith? It was a hit piece against the Bush administration, the Iraq war, and the U.S. government. It was so leading and superficial I became immediately outraged. It’s one thing to “admit” that she wasn’t the hero she was depicted, it is another thing to repudiate her own country and tarnishing the sacrifices of her fellow soldiers. That was exactly the tone and the purpose of that farce of an interview.
For some reason I don’t think you know half of what you think you know.
No, she wasn't. And I suspect that if she wasn't a cute blond, 4/5 of the remaining Jessica "soldier grrrrl" myth supporters would not be desparately trying to salvage anything remaining from this story.
Muslims can rape our soliders, but a few Marines piss on the bodies of dead Muslims and the world goes off its axis.
Insanity rules these days.
Millions of our generation, I truly believe, gained their “understanding” of modern war from Star Trek and similar shows. Why not have women on the Enterprise? The enemy never captures a starship, and then rapes and enslaves the women. They just shake the camera a little, the officers on the bridge pretend to be jostled, and another victory is chalked up.
And, God help us, even Freepers seem to have bought this fantasy brainwash.
A real war is going to be totally shocking and demoralizing to the nation. I mean on the scale of our near-rout in 1950 in Korea, not merely playing whack a mole with the taliban and such. In a real war, the Battle of Fallujah would just be the third combat story on an average day.
Imagine our PC military, full of open homosexuals and young girls, going into combat in Normandy or Okinawa.
Oh, wait, I forgot. “We're never going to have that kind of war again.”
Somebody had better inform the Chinese, the Iranians, etc.
I really, really hope you are wrong. I fear you are right.
There are more than a few here who would do well to well-consider what you say.
I love how proud he was to say he gave the order. Like any other President wouldnt.
When reality dawns, it’s going to be a cold, hard morning.
