My 87yr old WWII paratrooper dad just told me that
one of his trooper pals told the captain he was going
to cut a finger off a dead Japanese soldier. The
captain said “Get me one too”.

Pop said ears, toes, and teeth were also popular.

But, on the other hand, my dad and his pals also
recovered dead Americans who had strips of flesh
sliced from their bodies which were consumed by
hungry Japanese. Isn’t war hell?

We had a friend who as a sargent in Patton's army in WWII (may he rest in peace). He had some very interesting things to say about those times as well. After he was done in Europe, they shipped out to the Philippines under MacArthur. Some luck eh?

1898 Covered them in pig skin and dumped them in a grave. 1914 to 1918 Poked the eyes out of Germans with a ripper in the other side of the bayonet and send them back to their lines. WW2 I have seem pictures of heads cut off and the tooth collectors were documented. In Europe there were days when no prisoners were captured. Korea had killings of NK army mixing with peop[le fleeing. Nam had ears and people attempting to fly and free fire zones. Nothing but lost wars in our future.
