An official says the U.S. Marine Corps has identified at least two of the four marines in an internet video that purports to depict them urinating on Taliban corpses in Afghanistan. A marine official said Thursday that the four were members of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, which returned to its home base in North Carolina last fall after a tour in Afghanistan. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because a criminal investigation is underway. The official said that at least some of the four marines are no longer in that battalion. He provided no other details. (Snip) Panetta

If it comes to that, the left and media will spin it as Gates' policy. Hence, Bush's fault.
Can no one keep their mouth shut?
Sorry, I don’t have a problem with this at all. Piss is sterile. They should’ve dropped trou and dropped a deuce on the chests of every one of them.
These maniacal neanderthals cut off the genitals of slain US soldiers and stuff them in the mouths of the corpses. That along with Daniel Pearl, et al, and I have no sympathy.
This is all orchestrated, IMO. I’d bet the farm that they’re sitting on mountains of this stuff and will use it to further degrade the military.
We’re really fscked, IMO.
During war it is okay to shot and kill an enemy combatant.
But you can never ever piss on their dead bodies ?
There is something wrong with that mentality.
The dead seem to have more rights then the living.
shot = shoot
It´s said that two people can keep a secret, if one of them is dead.
Curious...
Who in hell would take a video of such an event and then post it on the internet? Is this all a faked thing? Are US Marines carrying around video devices when in battle?
Hey, that is my old outfit!
Or Americans being hung from bridges.
I was looking at a book about military doctors while waiting in a doc’s office. When we first came upon some Nazi concentration camp a group of doctors and medics were some of the first to be there and sort of took control of the situation. After a few hours some of the Nazi guards and officers were found hiding.
They were brought out, and the U.S. officer in command - a doctor - hastely asked for volunteers from his medical team to perform the executions. He was not wanting for volunteers, and the Nazi’s were lined up and killed.
I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like to see the prisoners in that camp. But still found it interesting that the docs had no qualms in rendering a swift justice.
I would like to think that was justice (and revenge?) enough without further acts on their dead bodies. But I suppose not - but the book didn’t say anything about it.
“Wheres the snitch that videoed it?
Surely the ones who did it werent foolish enough to HAVE it recorded?!”
That is where these guys made their mistake. It’s one thing to what they did but they absolutely knew this guy was filming and went through with it. He told them twice that he was filming it.
War is hell and stuff like this happens. But it happens in battle. To do it for fun on camera and to show off, bad move. These guys are going to pay for their stupidity.
One has to wonder what the incredible "films" would have shown coming from ....oh.....say....Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Brest, Manheim, and many many more.
Rules: 1) get the civilians away from the military.
2. any representative who votes in favor of war, shall be given the rank of E-1, issued a rifle, and immediately emplaced in a rifle platoon that is in the vanguard of the attack (or defense as the case may be). This will be so regardless of the rep's age, sex, or marital status.
3. No device capable of taking still or moving pics will be allowed on the person of anyone engaged, or who might become engaged, in close combat - this includes civilians. Anyone caught with such a device will have it confiscated and destroyed; if a civilian, see rule two above.
These three rules should fix a great deal of the current problems.
While I don’t really care the enemy dead, our troops have to be cognizant that ANYTHING they do may become a newstory, even years later, and it may be released by the very same guys who they served with.
They have to be careful with people, even their own, filming them.
I can see the new DOD policy though.
Openly gay troops will be authorized necrophilial relations will dead enemy combatants to assuage the damaged insensibilities of the enemy forces.
The government is looking for scape goats and the marines have been selected. The news media is hyping this one.
