Gingrich Decries 'Backdoor Socialism'
Fox ^ | 1-12-12 | LYN

Posted on 01/12/2012 4:31:45 PM PST by VinL

Gingrich returned to the stump Thursday with a heavy dose of populism and defended himself against charges of being anti-capitalist and anti-free enterprise.

"I think when you have crony capitalism of politicians taking care of their friends, that's not free enterprise, that's just backdoor socialism in which the rich get all the money and the rest of us get left, get left with all the debt," Gingrich told an audience of senior citizens gathered at the state fair grounds for a convention.

Gingrich said he's been "amazed" by the intensity of critics who he said are attacking him for questioning the bailout of big banks. He suggested the bailouts were tied to corruption at the Federal Reserve and the Treasury.

"American people have a right to know what has been happening to their economy, and they have a right to know where all the money went, they deserve an audit on the Federal Reserve, and the Treasury, to find out where the money went, to find out who got the money and why they got the money," said Gingrich to wide applause.

But it's not Mr. Gingrich's questions about bank bailouts that are raising eyebrows among prominent conservative voices, it's his questions about Mitt Romney's record at Bain Capital. And while Gingrich would later tell reporters he was referring specifically to the bailouts of AIG and Goldman Sachs when he criticized "back door socialism," the candidate made a point to tell seniors that it wasn't just financial institutions that need to be more transparent but also presidential candidates as well.

I saw that interview and thought the same thing. Fox has lost it, they make NO BONES about the fact that they are all out for the marxist Romney.

But it isn’t just Fox. Rush Limbaugh and other so called conservative media are protecting and promoting this marxist just a hard as is Fox.

“Again, for such a bright guy, there’s the problem, using Rat, Marxist, OWS talking point words.”

Bain Captial and Mittt Romney are crony captialist. That’s not leftist talking points, that’s the truth.

“Newt is smart enough to have said: “I think when you have the Fascism of politicians taking care of their friends, that’s not free enterprise, that’s just backdoor socialism in which government selected insiders get all the money and the rest of us get left, get left with all the debt,”

More accurately identifying the problem, and not trashing all “capitalists” and “rich”. Few average citizens understand that “crony capitalism” is not capitalism at all.”

I think u under estimate the Amerian people. They know fairness and honesty when they see it. They know corrupt, crony captialism when they see it, they know what it is.

Interestingly, Newt can be classified as “capitalist”, “rich”, an “insider” and a “crony capitalist” (FM consulting).

Most Americans are captialist, esp if they have a 401K plan. That doesn’t make them a crony captialist any more than it does Newt. As for Newt being rich, that may be true. Most Americans could care less. Its not folks getting rich that bothers them, its crony captialist like Bain Capital and Mitt Romney buying and using gov. officals for special favors and handouts. Thats what bothers them.

Look at the last stimulus package. Who was at the gov. trough slurping up money as fast as their gov. buddies would put it in there. IT WAS THE CAPTIALIST. They, the captialist, and the gov. stole trillions from the American taxpayers and sent them the bill. And you wonder why they hate crony captialist like Bain Capital and Mitt Romney.

.

The government hires consultants all the time from ex military to engineers to contractors to Boeing. Newt had 3 companies in 3 states. He had a staff of 30 or so employees. He had overhead to maintain the offices, staff to pay...what he made over a period of years is chump change at best in comparison to what most govt consultants make. BTW...what Newt did was free enterprise...why the attacks on him and why give Romney a pass? Romney took govt money to help with his socialized medicine in MASS too...the first implimentation of ObamaRomaCare happened in the state of MASS under Romneys leadership. He is a socialist...period. NO ROMNEY!

Rush works for Clear Channel. Clear Channel is owned by Bain.

“”””Mitt’s book records are in secret.””””

What in the world are you talking about? Bain is not owned or controlled by one man. It is a large partnership ESOP.

Romney’s work had three profound impacts on the firm. First, ownership was officially shifted from the owners to the firm’s 70 general partners. Second, transparency in the firm’s finances increased dramatically (e.g. partners were able to know each other’s salaries[11]). Third, Bill Bain relinquished ownership in the firm that carried his name.

IOW....Mitt Romney didn’t have all this as walking around money.

Are you familiar with big business governance?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bain_%26_Company

Wall Street has very serious problems that we should fix, but our potentially FATAL problems are government crony capitalism. FM/FM nearly took down our economy - half a billion given to one of many “Green Energy” crony companies. - Bailouts to “too big to fail”. - Our government “investing” in Finnish and Russian companies. Owning an auto company.

Yes, I read of the Rush/Clear Channel/Bain connection. But this seems to be a list of funding interests by
Bain that should give Rush pause for all the exasperation he exhibited against Newt’s complaints. Now that it is made public, maybe Rush could elaborate, one more time, on the faultless status of Bain and their pure as wind driven snow approach to capitalism. You know, one more time.

This is the first time I have seriously disagreed with the Rush bear, and his damaging timing. Yikes.

"what he made over a period of years is chump change"

Only a difference in degree. It's still wrong to be like Tom Daschle and use your previous position for personal gain, especially from the gov't.

Newtie is part of the Teat Party.

Funny S Palin is the one who initially raised the issue of crony capitalism. The difference of course is the role of the government in guaranteeing profits for the company and using taxpayer $$$ to cover losses.

How is Romney going to raise Solyndra as an issue with Obozo????????????

In a truthful World, Newt’s getting the scrutiny he deserves, but is a truthful World one that runs cover for the antagonists of Liberty and Conservatism?

Newt should use the Bain attacks as a “Now that I’ve got your attention” moment that doesn’t necessarily implicate, but instead sheds light on the methods Obama used to destroy businesses throughout the Country — ya’ know, given Romney’s self-described equivalencies to Obama and all...

Newt made a living as a private citizen hired as a consultant. No difference in the govt hiring engineers, ex military, financial experts, scientists, etc. It is called making a living and utilizing your expertise. Nothing wrong with it...period.

There are no conservatives in this race, just lesser shades of socialists. Newt and Santorum just suck less than the rest.
