People owe it to themselves to actually listen to Newt's explanation. Unfortunately, many Republicans don't seem to understand it, and are projecting it as an attack on capitalism.

But this isn't some kind of Left-tard at all. Newt's case is simple:

1) Romney's vaunted "private sector experience", is of a particular kind that's going to represent a huge liability in the general election. Nobody's asserting that Bain Capital's actions were necessarily illegitimate nor unlawful, but it's obvious that Romney was no white knight of heroic, entrepreneurial capitalism.

2) Questions on business ethics are legitimate inquiries that one should have to answer for, especially if they're running for public office—these are not attacks on capitalism, and it's completely goofy that some are construing it that way. Those advocating a "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" attitude towards private enterprise activity, aren't doing capitalism any favors—rather, they're ironically validating the Left's destructive sophistry against capitalism.

Selling out capitalism in the defense of Romney and Bain

Even ZeroHedge doesn't defend Romney's record as a 'capitalist':
"Lately, Bain founder and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has found himself in a spirited defense of the private equity industry, doing all he can to spin decades of data which confirm, without failure, that PE Leveraged Buy Outs are nothing but "efficiency maximizing" transactions whose only goal is the "maximization" of EBITDA in the pursuit of dividend recap deals, IPOs or outright sales, while loading up the company with untenable amounts of leverage. All this with a 3-5 year investment horizon, which ignores the long-term viability of a company and seeks to streamline (read fire as many as possible) operations as quickly as possible in the goal of maximizing short-term returns. We wish him luck in his endeavor."
Too many wannabe Capitalistas here at FR and elsewhere, who adamantly defend this kind of shuck and jive financial paper shuffling as exemplary acts of free-market enterprise.

Rush either is ignorant of the way companies like Bain work or is invested somewhere in that type of very lucrative bloodsucker business.

Where was he when Mitt's pals were slamming Newt with off the scale negative ads?

Come on Rush, please tell us you haven't gone over to the Mitt camp.

Of course, Rush also went off on Myth for defending Zero in the area of the auto bailouts. Pollutico probably doesn’t do such a good job of mentioning that.

Rush is right. These attacks on Bain Capital sound like something that leftist occutards would say. It is just pathetic seeing two of our own supposedly conservative candidates pulling this nonsense.

Romney is the ultimate RINO with a record that just invites attack from the right, yet Perry and Newt decide to attack from the left - and go after about the only worthwhile thing in Romney’s record which was his time as a capitalist at Bain.

This whole primary has become sad and pathetic.

Rush needs to say that people need to be thinking about all getting behind Santorum or Gingrich but what is with all of this don’t pick on Romney crap?Romney has been left alone until now.I saw some Romney lover on Greta say this same thing as Rush and Greta tore into him saying it is Romneys turn.If Gingrich or Santorum are not made into one or the other soon we may be stuck with Romney Obama.

I read an article was headlined on Drudge (don’t know how accurate) that Gingrich was going to retreat in Romney attacks?

This is Pollutico horse crap. He defended Newt to a degree, but still didn’t agree with this line of attack. Then he went on to cream Romney.

I am sure the left would like nothing better than to get the right to abandon Rush over Newt.

Geesh, what a crock.

I'm all for vetting candidates — I'm all for finding out just exactly who they are and I'm all for finding out if they can defend themselves ...
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Well...We certainly **know** Rush's record on vetting Obama’s eligibility.

Newt is the ONLY candidate that is being held to the fire about “personal attacks and negative campaigning.”. In my opinion, he has stuck to the facts, has not attacked anyone personally, as he has been attacked. I like him, what am I missing here?

Rush “dinged” Newt because Newt deserved it! His argument about Bain and “vulture capitalism” is antithetical to Conservative principles and values — mainly because his goal is to destroy Mitt more than to stand for Conservative values or win the Presidency. He’s angry. He wants vindication! How DARE anyone attack HIM! He’s NOT got the temperament nor the moral values to be the President.

On the same token, Rush also smacked down Mitt for stupidly comparing what he did at Bain to what Obama did with his big corporate and bank takeovers when he became President! How STUPID is that?!

Neither one of these guys - Newt NOR Mitt - are worth a vote or worthy to be the nominee, much less the President! God help us all.

“Vulture capitalism, bleeding companies dry”

The problem with the article is that Newt did not say the above. It was Rick Perry. Some of the stuff that was alleged to be by Newt was said by others. So there are half truths in this thing.

Capitalism has too few defenders ...

Fact : The Wall Street Journal reported (as a fact) that Mitt Romney - Bain Capital often took businesses ...

.. and then (literally) financially raped-and-pillaged them ... broke them up for re-sale ... and then FIRED hundreds of employees ...

INSTEAD of trying to help get them profitable and healthy again ...

while Mitt Romney and his E-RINO buddies added to their $ 190 million dollar personal fortunes ...

Don't take my word for it ... read about it in The Wall Street Journal ...

Do you know the difference between Bill Gates and Mitt Romney ?

Bill Gates "developed" Microsoft Software products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) that GENUINELY helped mankind ...

Yeah ... Bill Gates wasn't a "Mother Thersea Businessman" ... and the software often had problems ...

but ... it is UNDENIABLE that Bill Gates "made a POSITIVE difference" ... as he agressively pursued his CAPITALIST dreams ...

"Good For Him" ...

Mitt Romney ... A (general) political failure ... more devious than Bill Clinton ... was afraid to run for a second term as Mass Gov.

Mitt Romney ... the businessman ... unlike Bill Gates ... never really did anything POSITIVE ...

Instead Mitt and his E-RINO legal-eagles MANIPULATED their way into struggling businesses ... and after they had bought them ... promptly took EVERY NICKLE they could get ... most of the time ...

And the few times they tried to rescue the stuggling companies ... Mitt and his buddies SCREWED it up themselves ...

With a $ 190 million dollar fortune at his finger-tips, you'd figure that PIOUS Mitt Romney would have an IMPRESSIVE list of charitable donations ...

echoing the charity of Bill Gates ...

especially with the "Mr. Mormon Kinda-Christian" gig that PIOUS Mitt Romney desperately clings to ...

Sadly ... Mitt's favorite hobby is keeping his EGO inflated as he spends tens-of-millions running for President ...

I say, he is running for the Presidency of the United States. Why should he have a pass? Just for a win with the R by his name (don’t think so) He needs to have his business record and governing policies examined. The very thing Palin was saying tonight. It was not about them being against free market while making a profit. It was how it appears he and his investors knew when to pick up companies, inflate the stocks, then dump them and walk away with millions as they crushed jobs/by closing good companies. Looks fishy. Why didn’t Rush see that. 2 days going on with this before S.C.’s vote. This was brought up in the past by McCain and others.
