RINO Romney Is the Least Electable
The American Spectator ^ | January 11, 2012 | Peter Ferrara

Posted on 01/11/2012 3:07:11 PM PST by Clintonfatigued

Romney assured Massachusetts voters when he was running for the Senate in 1994 that he did not want to go back to Reaganomics. He said during that campaign, "I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush."

Romney was also one of the few Republicans in 1994 to refuse to sign on to Newt Gingrich's Contract with America. He said during that campaign, "In my view, it is not a good idea to go into a contract, like what was organized by the Republican Party in Washington, laying out a whole series of things that the party says 'these are the things we are going to do.' I think that's a mistake." That mistake led to an historic Republican takeover of Congress in 1994. But Romney was one of the few Republicans to lose that year.

Mitt Romney isn’t unelectable, but he’s not the electoral savior his supporters are claiming. His alleged cross-party appeal is vastly overrated. He’s won only one election (Governor in 2002) and would probably have lost in 2006 had he run again. If he is the nominee, the only thing he’ll have going for him is the Obama record. That may be enough to elect him, but we can do better and should.

Indeed. Which is why the Dems want him to be the GOP nominee.

Based on casual discussions with conservative friends and neighbors, Mitty generates an incredibly low amount of voter enthusiasm. He’s McDole 3.0, 2012 release.

Throw in a likely Tea Party challenger in most red states and you have the recipe for a Baraqqi win with a Clintonian plurality.

The problem is that if we make Romney the nominee, Obama can make him fun on HIS record. That will NOT be a pretty sight.

We should never doubt the ability of Obama’s people to do this and to do it very successfully. Just as Ted Kennedy did in their Senate battle in Massachusetts.

Does anyone recall how that one turned out?

Willard the Loser’s Career Election Record:

6 and 18 ..won/lost

(Yeah, I’m giving him his win in his home state of NH last night — but a loss in IA again where Willard’s goons screwed Santorum and Newt as well.)

“Which is why the Dems want him to be the GOP nominee.”

They want him because they have destroyed all of the others and they have a bushel basket of his negatives to dump to the media. Remember the GWB DWI tale?

Everything from statements (Like I like to fire people) to the woman who will claim he groped her to the little boy who has HIS “story”.

If Romney is the choice it will be Bob Dole/John McCain all over again. A liberal republican getting beat by a very liberal Democrat. The next five years could well be the end of America. It was good while it lasted.

IF Mittens wins the nomination, here are some of the “news” exposés you will see:

The Old Grey lady and all of the “local” news papers will have in depth stories on the vast differences between Mormonism and Protestant Church theology.

PBS – Frontline, 48 hours and 60 minutes will do a multi-episode series on the “vulture capitalism”.

And you guessed it the economy’s (invisable) miraculous gianormous recovery will be tied on every paper (above the fold) and on every news, entertainment, and infomercial channel, to all things Obama.

Mitt Romney is a Trojan horse.

We are being played.

Guess that means we should vote for Obama, because the rest running are even bigger RINO’s than Romney.

Romney is McCain with better hair but no prior military.

I can't get enthusiastic about him and refuse to roll over and let him walk right into the nomination.

"I'm Mitt Romney and I'm reporting for duty!"

The Mormon thing is huge! Mitt isn’t just any garden variety Mormon, but the elite if the elite. The Mormon 15% aristocracy- the Temple Mormons... and he is was or still is a Bishop.
He wears the “magic” underwear folks, day and night.
Mitt was a missionary in France, but Mormon missionaries are not like other Christian missionaries. Their only goal is to convert. They build no schools, hospitals, or housing,
One obvious question: if they don’t spend on charitable works, what do they do with all that money... the 10% tithing must rake in millions, if not billions. Who’s in charge, really, who’s running the show?

Without reference to any particular Republican candidate: Are we skating to where the puck is going? Because where the "puck is going" is a November decision of monumental proportions - America is going to decide whether it will move back toward our foundation document or move toward statism.

I wonder if we conservatives haven't lost sight of that. When I read most of these posts I get the impression that those posting are "skating toward where the puck is", i.e. thinking of this election as simply another Republican choice ( W vs. Gore, for example) to possibly become President and put a conservative spin (to the extent possible) on the Progressive agenda that country has been supporting for the last 80 years;(a Progressive agenda that, in view of the debt, has now been recognized as failing.

The question ON THE DAY OF THE 2012 ELECTION (where the puck is going) will be, Progressivism having failed, do we return to our roots or move toward increasing statism?

IMHO - We need to pick the candidate who both understands that that is where the puck is heading, and who is best prepared to argue both the philosophical and practical case AND to become the General if elected.
