Not a "perfect" conservative . . . try *not* a conservative. He's a filthy opportunist in both his political and personal life. He has no self control in denying himself anything he thinks he wants and will say anything to get it. "But . . . but . . . he's a different politician now." Yeah. Right.
Don't believe me? Run back to him like a dog back to its vomit, then. IF he gets elected (which I seriously doubt), we'll talk again in a couple of years and see if he has really changed. I'm sure he'll have had plenty more photo-ops with gun banners and far left marxists.
You know, when he had his gall bladder surgery years ago and it seemed kinda serious or at least urgent, and I remember seeing a big WaPo picture of him just two weekends later holding a slammer of a Denver omelet on a hot plate breakfasting up at his first speech since the surgery.
I'm thinking, I might give that left turn in the gut another couple of weeks before I hit the hot butter-ham-n-eggs factory...
