There is always one carrier in the region there. Vinson is replacing Stennis.
Things will only get interesting whenever the Vinson sails for Hormuz. Probably gonna happen at some stage over the next few days/weeks. Then we’ll see if the Iranians backtrack on their threats or actually try something crazy.
Actually for the past decade or so there’s always been at least two supercarrier groups in the general 5th fleet area with a third somewhere in rotation. We keep track of the groups on the big world map here on a shop wall. I’ve long said to watch out for the third——if a third backup group comes on station, as with gulf war II, Ammanutjob and all his friends should keep their heads down. And the same Ammanutjob shouldn’t have any trouble spotting another 100,000 tons of American steel plowing brown peewater at flank speed——he’ll find it impressive!
I've got a really bad feeling about Iran. Things could really go sideways quick.
That's what I thought: this is standard procedure. Surely, even the Ubama administration wouldn't be dumb enough to get "military" with Iran? If we don't, the Iranians will back down anyway. If we get crazy, they'll get crazy, so let's not do it.
Yes. The Lincoln is going to be running backup.
