On Fox & Friends this morning, Newt Gingrich fought back against Rush Limbaugh's criticism of his rhetoric on Bain Capital.
FOX HOST STEVE DOOCY: I was driving around yesterday in my car, and I was listening to Rush Limbaugh, and he was talking about you and how you're going after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.
And he said that you're using the language of the Left to beat up on Romney over Bain.
He said it makes him uncomfortable because that's what the Left will do if Romney is the nominee.
GINGRICH: Well, I don't think I'm using the language of the Left. I'm using the language of classic American populism.
Main Street has always been suspicious of Wall Street, small businesses have always worried about big businesses.... and I think people have a natural concern when they see financiers come in from out of town, take over a company, take all the profits, and then leave people who are unemployed behind.

I am with you 100%
“This is not US capitalism and these elitist mistake themselves as being above the constiution and rule of law. It is something out of the third world.”
Ohhh,,Don’t you know the rules?
If you simply CALL yourself a “capitalist” and work in the Bank or investment industry,, or like GE, you use every crony trick in the book to get legislation allowing you to loot pension funds, employ near slave labor in totalitarian nations, etc,,, Then you cannot be criticized!
They will call you un-American. (nevermind that the same people making the charge, openly have no loyalty to the USA in any circumstance)
Rush is WRONG about this and he was wrong when he defined and then defended Santorum’s ‘Big Government Conservatism’. I was very disappointed in that...Rush used to be a lot smarter than that.
All the Republican candidates except Paul agree that the 2008 credit crisis was caused by government intervention, the CRA etc., and not by Wall Street. There is a distinction, however, between responsibility for the crisis and crony capitalism which gives inordinate power and advantage to those with access to government influence and large capital pools. This is not scapegoating. A large segment of those who believe in and practice free enterprise on a smaller scale, registered Republicans, will respond to Gov. Palin's and Speaker Gringrich's populist positions.
That said, I think that Newt should have produced his own commercial, rather than buying something obviously produced by the dark side.
No, Newt wants voters not to vote for Romney.
Whatever takes Romney down is good by me. Romney’s persona is a rich elitist guy. It’s not outrageous to point that out. Because voters in the general will see it and not like him.
Screw it. Rush, Coulter etc etc all of you can take your Romney and go to the devil with him. If this country re-elects Obama or Romney it’s the same thing.
Our nominee will need to bring in a wide range of voters. We don’t need a Barry Goldwater. Whether we like it or not, Newt says things that appeal to many people. They might not realize that now, but they will when he debates Obama.
Good for Paul and Santorum. Maybe Santorum can be the consensus conservative candidate.
With all respect (not sure it is due at this point), you do not know what you are talking about, and neither does Rush. Both of you need to chill and watch the 27 minute movie. You will see, and then tell me how you think this is what America is about. Corporate Raiders are the skum of the earth and that is what Mitt Romney is. Rush will walk this back if he has a brain.
I hate this field. What we should have had was Christie, Palin, Ryan, Rubio, West and Jindal. That could have been amazing. Instead we got the second stringers .
I will add, as a first-stringer, the Rick Perry who doesn't gaffe his way through early debates and has never lost an election ... but that Rick Perry didn't show up, at least not until the gaffe-ey one did (and made an apparently incurable bad first impression on most voters).
This is the key. If it is shown that Romney's Bain raided pension funds, took the money, and left the workers with no jobs or retirement, Romney is done. It's one thing to take a company's assets but it's another to steal the people's pensions.
“Especially if the company you work for is doing well, and all they want is your pension.”
Guys like Romney TARGET firms with properly funded pension funds. They loot those funds in various schemes to book the stock price. They then collect enormous bonuses for boosting the price in that manner,,, then bankrupt the company, selling off the parts.
The WSJ had a great story on that tactic.
You are absolutely right and it would be educational if those who are criticizing Newt right now would familiarize themselves with Bain Capital, who it partners with, and the difference between Capitalism and outright looting....maybe even note how many companies MITT’S Bain division grabbed that filed for bankruptcy a few months or a year later when they were just empty shells.
The Bain franchise headed by mitt romney was separate from Bain Capital. It was its own little enterprise with little or no attachment to the main business of Bain. In fact, mitt actually was not considered a Bain employee or board member when he took on this little enterprise to take advantage of companies that were struggling. Bain kept its hands clean and mitt did the dirty work resulting in billions of dollars for HIS franchise. When it was over, he rejoined Bain Capital.
Newt Gingrich is not my candidate, but he is damned right about mitt romney. romney is sleeze flat out, pure simple.

Exactly. Sarah said they ALL need to be vetted because Obama and the lame stream media will vet the nominee. She also said that there is crony capitalism on both side of the political aisle, and that it isn't a matter of just removing Obama, but who and what we replace him with. Mitt is just more of the same corrupt/crony capitalists that have have destroyed our country. In addition, when taxpayer funds are used to bail out the pensions, yet Bain investors walk away with BIG bucks, it is not capitalism. This is the vetting of Mitt and all you have to do is listen to who is whining to know it's the 'over the target flak' thingy.
Tell that to the people of SC
I agree. Rush has certainly been taking the "shallow analysis" route lately. Newt attacking Capitalism? Bullsquat, Newt is atacking Romney.
Sounds to me like a contradiction in one pair of sentences. Newt, you are everything we thought you were. Prayers for Santorum as our choices narrow :(
Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, Perry. Two are gone now. But they were there are one time, with a 5th one “in the wings” — Sarah Palin.
We had so many choices, and we squandered them all, or they squandered themselves.
I will say that Gingrich is better than McCain. So that’s something. I don’t think he is any more electable, but that’s an opinion I hope is wrong. I just don’t see the average voter forgetting how much they hated Gingrich, after the media reminds them, which so far the media has NOT been doing.
