A media buying source says that Winning Our Future, the pro-Newt Gingrich group that just got a $5 million infusion from casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, has bought $1.4 million worth of 30-second time slots on cable and broadcast in South Carolina.
The ad flight is slated to start tomorrow and run through the Jan. 21 primary, the source said.
The biggest purchase is in the Greenville-Spartanburg market, totaling $317,375. The broadcast total is just over $1.1 million, and the cable total is almost $267,000.
The group has said it plans to spend $3.4 million on TV ads in South Carolina, with the bulk of it expected to be to air spots culled from a short film on Bain Capital, Mitt Romney's old firm, featuring laid-off workers. It's not clear how much time is actually left to buy with the remainder of the money WOF has said it is budgeting for TV.
If they plan on airing the full 30-minute movie, that could be where the money goes, but it's not likely that will resonate at all the way ads will.
The pro-Mitt Romney group Restore Our Future has bought more than $2 million worth of TV time in South Carolina for a flight running through the primary, and the group has already shown an ability to do real damage with its ads.

Reaction to action - Mitt has “Restore Our Future” running attacks on Newt here in Florida. Today I got 2 super-size postcards from them with the “Not Authorized” disclaimer. We are also getting frequent TV ads as well. So much for Reagan’s (Gaylord Parkinson’s) 11th Commandment; “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.”
If this is what Republicans are doing to each other, the general election season is going to be wall-to-wall DIRT. After all, the Democrats can just point to how hated any candidate is by hie fellow GOPers.
Rush Limbaugh today said that Newt “sounded like Elizabeth Warren” in his comments this morning to Megyn Kelly, and he is right, it was truly cringeworthy. Surely there must be enough to bash Mittens on without adopting Occupy Wall St. talking points.
Guess it all depends on what side of the bed Rush gets up on. Here he is slamming the hypocrites who despised Romney in 2008, but love the liberal this year. Call it establishment party politics.
Rush’s thoughts on Haley, Newt, Huckabee, McCain and Romney:
“I had dinner the other night with a lovely group of people who still have a high school civics 101 version idea of politics. They think it’s all about ideas. And these people have — I’ll just mention, these people have done a lot to help Nikki Haley. They’re very angry at her now. They’ve done a lot to help Nikki Haley in South Carolina, the governor, and these are Gingrich people, and they think they were led to believe that Nikki Haley would be in there supporting Gingrich.....”
“...they were just sad that Nikki Haley has endorsed Romney. They thought Nikki Haley would come out and endorse Gingrich. It’s not the way party politics works. So I just find it fascinating that Huckabee and McCain, you name it, from the 2008 roster, hated Romney. They were doing everything they could to sabotage Romney. Now four years later, guess what? They are loving themselves some Romney. As the Huckster’s out there saying, they’re loving themselves some Romney....”

[Rush Limbaugh today said that Newt sounded like Elizabeth Warren]
He also said for full discloser, that his program on Clear Channel was partly owned by Bain Capitol...AFTER it had just recently been publicly disclosed.
He also said that Newt was attacking from the left when the truth is Newt is showing what the left will use to defeat Romney.
He also tried to explain his comments and FAILED.
I’ve gotten the postcards and ads here in Florida, too. Hope to see some from Newt soon. Unfortunately, Mitt is willing to go as low as it takes to win. He’s brought a knife to the fight. Newt has no choice but to bring a gun.
