And this is why liberalism is such an easy sell. The “generosity” of wanting to control other people’s money and actions “for the betterment of all” grants them a feeling of (false) virtue.

Tell a fool that he can be greedy and vain, and disguise it as probity, and you have a new liberal convert.

Your last sentence is remarkable for its brevity and insight. With your permission, and attribution if desired, I would like to use it as an introduction when discussing ideology with others. I also think that it succinctly indicates how liberals get drawn in to leftism. What they don’t realize is that getting out is very difficult.
