Months ago I bashed Perry time and again over the Guardasil issue and the immigration issue. I've looked at both issues and can give him a pass on the Guardasil issue. But on the immigration issue when I see people hit at him on that I have to wonder. Perry took the issue right to Obama's face. In person. Man-to-Man. No other candidate has done so. Ron Paul is a Texas representative. Where has he been when Obama shows up in Texas? The other candidates have had opportunities to get in Obama's face but have not. Perry, on the other hand, got right in Obama's grill. It was funny. Obama looked like he was going to pee his pants. Say what you want about Perry but you cannot say he is not a junk yard dog when it comes to scapping with his opponents. He is the perfect candidate to beat on Obama. Perry takes no prisoners. He knows politics is bare knuckled war.

One more thing. The guy flew military aircraft. It takes nerves of steel to do that. It also takes true grit to stumble like he did in that debate then come back time and again and stand and deliver. All of this shows that Perry has what is needed at his core to win.

Rick Perry’s ‘You got a name?’ response to that jack*ss ‘reporter’ was classic, as well...

Perry will take it to 'em.

Perry Joins Rivals in Attacking Romney on Bain………….”He said that people in nearby Gaffney, S.C., in particular, “would find his comments incredible,” because it is where Mr. Perry said Bain shut down a plant and fired 150 workers.

“That didn’t happen until Mitt Romney’s private equity firm, they looted that company with more than $20 million in management fees.”

He also charged that Mr. Romney’s firm took $65 million in management fees out of a steel company in a deal in which 700 steelworkers in Georgetown, S.C., and Kansas City lost their jobs, their health insurance and “large portions” of their pensions.

“There’s nothing wrong with being successful and making money — that’s the American dream,” Mr. Perry said. “But there is something inherently wrong when getting rich off failures and sticking it to someone else is how you do your business. I happen to think that that is indefensible.”

“If you are a victim of Bain capital’s downsizing, it’s the ultimate insult for Mitt Romney to come to South Carolina and tell you he feels your pain — because he caused it,” Mr. Perry said..”

Yeah, I remember that! In that way, he and George Bush are similar. Certainly, one can complain about what they didn’t do, or didn’t do strongly enough. However, there is a certain “rough-and-ready” aspect; a “can-do” practicality that is shared by the two men! Maybe it’s because they’re both Texans, who knows? :^)
Another thing I would add, is that even though he was from Calif., Ronald Reagan also shared that trait. That’s one of the many things I appreciated about him!

He flew cargo aircraft, a C-130. No “nerves of steel” for that. Second, he is arrogant, and that is why he stays in with terrible polling numbers. He fights for himself, which is why he refused to give up that pro-Mexican anti-American Trans-Texas Corridor when everyone demanded he stop it. Even here on FR it was a major issue.
