I will vote for anyone still in the race, including Ron Paul, EXCEPT for Huntsman and Romney (and it has nothing to do with their religion.) If either of them are the GOP nominee I’m staying home or writing in Sarah Palin

Why are you so opposed to Huntsman?

Like Gingrich, Huntsman can point to a conservative track record in office. But Gingrich has enough baggage to fill both Air Force Ones and make them use the whole runway, whereas Huntsman is clean. Gingrich is the better debater, of course, but he is also much more likely to self-destruct in the general.

Also, Huntsman enjoyed strong approval as Utah governor. From the Wikipedia:

Utah gubernatorial election, 2008[118]
Party Candidate Votes % ±%
Republican Jon Huntsman, Jr. (inc.) 735,049 77.63% +19.89%
Democratic Bob Springmeyer 186,503 19.72% -21.62%
Libertarian Dell Schanze 24,820 2.62%
Write-ins 153 0.02%
Majority 547,546 57.91% +41.51%
Turnout 945,525
Republican hold Swing
Utah gubernatorial election, 2004[119]
Party Candidate Votes % ±%
Republican Party Jon Huntsman, Jr. 531,190 57.74% +1.97%
Democratic Scott Matheson, Jr. 380,359 41.35% -0.92%
Personal Choice Ken Larsen 8,399 0.91%
Write-ins 12 0.00%
Majority 150,831 16.40% +2.89%
Turnout 919,960
Republican hold Swing

Note the positive change from 2004 to 2008.

If Romney is the nominee there is no point in voting for him because he will not win. He has no fans. Inspires no passion. And being born in America doesn’t necessarily make one want to protect constitutional freedoms. We only have to look at most of our politicians past and present to learn that.

Romney just doesn’t inspire.

For now I’m leaning towards Newt.
I like his rock-em-sock-em style and I think if he were the nominee he’d let Obama and the media have it with both barrels. Everyone loves a good fight. And Newt will give us one. Plus he actually makes sense when he talks. And he’s an excellent teacher. He can teach the electorate why America is great while running for office.

Santorum is a good man too. For now - they are my two favorites.

I promise if Huntsman comes close to winning the nomination I’ll give him a second look. But there’s just something about him (to me) that comes off as arrogant and too slick.

Well, someone else understands Newt’s advantages—go, Newt. I like Santorum, too, so we agree there. But, and don’t misunderstand, Romney is a helluva lot better than having the Kenyan Marxist for another four.

Romney probably is a little better than Obama. But he will not bring out the vote. I don’t want to vote against Obama. I want to vote FOR something or someone.
