Unless you want to see another debate, there’s not much to see this morning.

Governor Perry suggested we go to church instead and that’s what I did.

I went to the early service though and got back in time to see it, but I’m taping it just in case something actually happens.

the anticipated clash between Gingrich and Romney didn’t happen

That's what I guess is Newt way out ahead of the media, he got it out and moved on. The media want more ideas for Democrats to use for criticism of any Republican candidate.

What a moment that would be.

My daydream is in Tampa with Newt carrying the flag flanked by Sarah on one side and Marco on the other.

AN hour later when the applause subsides not ends, Newt give the speech of a lifetime and we win.

Hope it happens.

Oops, I gave up on the running commentary.....I’ll go back. Santorum and Gingrich are no hurting each other. They gang up on Romney. It seems Gingrich is ignoring Paul, Santorum took Paul on quite well at one point.

Paul just had his one sane moment of this debate talking about rights/entitlements/and freedoms.

Last part of the debate with Gregory alone. We’re on to 30 second answers now.

Q- why can’t we live with a nuclear Iran, and what about Pakistan?

Santorum - they’re a theocracy with their principle being martyrdom. Pakistan is not a theocracy.

Q to Gingrich - Tone of campaign; asks about p;iece being prepared calling Romney a predator (at Bain)

Gingrich says if it’s accurate, he’s not being a hypocrite. Asks Gingrich about “liar” comment. GIngrich asks Romney to just admit that these are his friends, his supporters, he was essentially running this attack, and even the NY times said it wasn’t accurate. Tells ROmney to just admit it.

Romney responds by quoting those attacks from the ad and says they are all true. Maybe the one about abortion is wrong, and if it’s false should be taken out, but HE can’t do it ....it’s not his ad.

Says Gingrich is over the top for calling him a liar. Gingrich is incredulous - says he’s glad that ROmney says if these ads are wrong, they should be taken down. Gingrich is taking Romney’s adive, using attack ads, he “hopes” when this 27 1/2 minute ad comes out that is accurate, but he has nothing to do with it.

lolololol IMO, Gingrich skillfully won this round. The only bad thing is he let Romney use all the talking points from that ad (HEY, wait....I thought Romney had nothing to do with that ad).

lololol, Gingrich is good.

Great stuff Son!

We live in a different world here. One of the reasons why what we do here has such value. So few Americans see things as clearly as Freepers do.

Actually, I’m amazed at what an efficient site Free Republic is, especially since they are non-profit and operating on a dime.

We have had threads that people were posting to every other second ... like last night ... the the site kept up and worked like a charm.

Also the features on this site are quite remarkable in that one can go and look at previous posts of another poster, really sophisticated stuff.

Okay, now I’ve done it. The site sometimes crashes on Sunday and probably will now that I’ve bragged.

Had to chuckle.

Yes, the media has called it for Romney. All the other candidates should pull out and give him their money.

I think ... from participating on the debate thread last night ... that people are moving back to Newt as they realize what the alternatives are.

There was a notable lack of enthusiasm for Santorum on the thread, and disquietingly enough, a noticeable admiration for Romney.

I’m still hoping for a miracle for Rick Perry as he is the best candidate, but it looks like it will take a miracle.

If he doesn’t make it, I will move to Newt.

True,Matthew Dowd I believe on abc with stuffy stephy pointed out (surprisingly that he was allowed to get it out)that if the election is about zero they lose.

^^^^^^

Victor Davis Hanson has a terrific article posted here that says Obama's approval rating goes up when he is silent, and that is going to be his campaign game plan. He is going to be the Chauncey Gardiner candidate.

Help us, Obi Rand Kenobi, you’re our only hope.

I don’t think Paul would pull in votes nearly to the extent that H. Ross Perot did when he gave the election to Clinton, but in a close race, he could definitely give it to Obama.

I pray he cares more about his country than to do that, but you never know with a crazy person.

That wasn’t a very good line of questioning. They were being asked about being able to get things done, and both Newt and ROmney discussed how they were able to get things done without a party majority using their leadership skills.

I don’t think there were any questions about the health care plan. Gay rights stuff was brought up again....The only reason questioners are so fascinated with this subject is as a gotcha point. Santorum did well with it though.

‘Huntsman suggest He would propose term limits for Congress.”

Career politicians will not vote for term limits......not in any state:-(

Newt doesn’t look or act old. He is chubby and not as physically attractive as some of the other candidates.

If we voted on looks, Rick Perry would win.

Mitt looks like a mannikin and Santorum looks like a nice looking college boy (the sweaters don’t help)

So Romney found a way to cleverly defuse the situation (slightly) and Gingrich did not escalate. Neither backed down. Wow, these guys are truly professionals.

Seems to me it is more the panicked big-government-romney-supporting-establishment that keeps blowing that out of context, rather than the left.

You mean there's a difference???   I used the term "left" instead of being redundant by saying media/press/pundits/Democrats/Rhino's.

I agree. He's likely getting a lot of help from obama voters in these primaries (propping him up to take other viable candidates out). I havent' watched any debates before last night. From that one debate alone, my assessment is Paul is nuttier than a fruitcake. Today he did a little bit better, but Santorum made some good points to minimize Paul without spending a lot of his time doing so.

If people are legitimately choosing Paul, scary what that says about a segment of our voting population.

Yep. Romney is so smooth he could slide through small places. Kinda like a rat.
