China holds about $1 trillion of our debt. And they are running a huge trade surplus with the US. If we don't stand up to them, most US jobs along with our industries will be sent to China. I have been to Beijing. The West is exporting whole factories with the latest technology to China. Because of their low wages, there is no way we compete with them, especially when they manipulate their currency and steal our intellectual property. The reality is that we can't continue with the status quo. China's trade surplus with the US is about 160 bilion. It has been declining recently due to economic conditions in the US. They must make up the loss of demand domestically or somewhere else.

Excellent stuff here kabar.

My entire industry has been given to the Chinese. Simply because they responded the quickest at the best prices and after several years, better quality.

They are tough competition. And for small manufacturers like me we are 90% dependent on them for supplying us with materials to build with.

I don't see much change coming in the future.... We create all the technology and they steal it all from us.

Here's an article from the BBC about China's exports They are not only taking our manufacturing industries, but also our markets.

"Sales to Europe and the US, which comprise about 40% of total exports, were not expected to recover next year.

The ministry said China would instead target exports to developing markets in Asia and Latin America.

China will also try to boost its imports from the West, the ministry said, in order to help support their economies and to balance out China's trade surplus.

Exports to the European Union fell 9% in October versus a year ago, and exports to the US fell 5%.

The country's total exports, however, were still up 15.9%, thanks in part to booming demand from Latin America."
